Talking

I just recorded a little something...

Since I now have nice DiMarzios (AN/BV/TZ) in my Saber I figured I might record something using my Line6 Toneport which I just equipped with the "Power Pack" and the "Model Pack Collection".

I hope you guys won't be too harsh with me... ;-)

Click me, I'm linked to a MP3-file...

Great tone you got there! Those DiMarzio's really rock, as does the Line 6 TonePort.

Thumbs up

Re: I just recorded a little something...

It was good, at least you kept the phrases very close to the originals and your bends were in tune but weak, some of the licks were a bit off but I would give it a 7 out of 10.

What do you mean by saying that the bends were "weak"?

Not enough sustain on them, your bends fretted out too fast that's what made them sound weak in some phrases where they needed to ring out longer...

Sounded pretty good to me. Are you using the Ableton Live Lite program that came with it?

No, I don't like Ableton Live that much.
When doing "real" recording and arranging, I use Mackie Tracktion.

This little clip has been recorded using Sony SoundForge.

Re: I just recorded a little something...

I agree you need a little more sustain on the bends as they are fading out too quickly but other than that ya pretty much nailed it, and the tone was great!

Re: I just recorded a little something...

Tone still sounds close but still too harsh and brittle.

Quick tip, use "Antares Tube" plug-in if you can't get a real tube preamp to run the Line6 through to warm things up. Works wonders on my guitars/vocals in Cubase and EVEN the overall mix after mastering which I do in Sound Forge 8.0 using mainly thrid party plug ins. If you want to try the plug in let me know.

Overall great job!
