I-mac build-in microphone problem

Hey folks,

I have a problem with the build-in microphone from my I-mac. Suddenly it started making noise and now it only makes noise all the damn time. I can "talk" through it but it's only garbage that comes out from it. It's not software related I'm sure because I checked everything and tried every damn program I had but it still doesn't work. Only produces noise so I think my mic is dead....

Anyone has any kind of tips how to get it working again? (unless ofcourse the wire is lose because in that case I can't fix it)

Do you use the built-in microphone at all? How old is the iMac?

I never use the built-in microphone on any of my machines. I find they usually pick up mostly hard drive and fan noise.

I made some very fine voice recordings with it. If you know how to use an EQ and Cubase you can do very cool things with it. I never used it for guitar though since for that I just plug my Cube 30 output in my computer and that works really perfect.
It's 3 years old now.....

Too bad.......it's just broke I figured out........

Recording my voice with a headphone in the microphone input now.....
(can't buy a mic )
