iTunes and Garageband

When I try to import a song from iTunes that I bought from iTunes my Mac won't let me. When I do the same thing with a song from a CD it works. Anyone know what is going on? Can you not import songs into iTunes that you bought from iTunes. When learning a song it is easier to import it into garageband and loop the section I am working on. Thanks!!

Its most likely because most of the tracks on iTunes (all the $0.99 ones) have some called a DRM encoded in them. You can't use them for certain things.

Sorry, it's monday morning, LOL!! Yes, I am trying to import a song from iTunes to garageband. When I try to drag and drop the song it won't "drop". This only happens on songs that I downloaded from the iTunes store. It works fin on songs that I purchased from a CD and imported into iTunes.

You might try converting the song to an mp3 using itunes and then try to import. I don't know if that will get rid of the code that Hutch mentioned.

thats because of the drm. if you purchase drm-free music in the ims it works as every other mp3 or wave.
the only workaround is to burn a cd, reimport it into itunes and drop it into garageband.
sorry mate…
