Jemaholic's New Rush-Style Original (Lady Of The Lake)

Just finished this up this week. Recorded in the basement like the others.
Drums came out better on this recording- I used ONE large-diaphram condenser mic for the whole drum kit placed about 3 feet away. Stratocaster through a full Marshall stack and bass and keys direct into the board. Delay and flanging with the Lexicon unit.

Tell me if you like it....

Jeff, firstly can I say that those toms sound really good...especially the wild fills. I know this is an amateur recording etc etc, but, to be honest, the 1 mic approach can be sooo effective. Personally, I would go with 2 (although not sure where I'd place the second mic and the phasing would be an issue)...I just craved a bit more snare...but it rocks, man.

As for everything else, I was impressed...how many tracks of guitars are you running?

Dude, it sounded good...

yeah, I think a mic on the kick would help too. I've got a Tama Star Classic kit with 4 toms and 2-22" kicks and about 8 zildjian cymbals. They are in the control room so the small space helps out with the single mic- but I too believe that mic placement is THE KEY to a decent recording.
I've got 2 main guitar tracks panned hard left and hard right and each solo is a single track.

Thanks for the listen and comments!
