Latest project complete: UV7-SMC
Hey folks,
Just thought I would post some pics of my new project guitar. It started out as a neck I bought from Gary (the.godfoather) here on the forum about 2-3 years ago and a lo-pro I bought from Rich about 6-7 years ago. Finally got round to ordering a swirl from Herc and acquiring the other varios bits and pieces through **** and Brian Calvert of
www.universaljems.com
/
www.projectguitar.com
Its got an Air Norton 7 in the neck and a PAF 7 in the bridge wired up to give
1) Bridge full humbucker (series)
2) Singel coil bridge
3) Neck adn bridge inner coils in parallel
4) Neck single coil
5) Neck full Humbucker (series)
The volume pot is a push-pull that adds the full
bridge humbucker
in parallel to positions 4 and 5, and the full
neck humbucker
in parallel to positions 1 and 2. The volume push-pull adds the center single coil in parallel to whatever position you are at. giving you a grand total of 16 pickup combinations... The 5 main options on the switch is pretty much all I use live and the rest are for recording purposes only (except for position 2 with the volume push pull engaged).
Anyway Ill upload some audio clips soon but first here are some pics... did i mention that the action is lower than a flea's pubes?
Steve

Re: Latest project complete: UV7-SMC
Super nice swirl!!!
I think, in my opinion, that's the best
Herc swirl
I've seen. It's more "chaotic" than the normal run-of-the-mill "S" pattern on the body.
The chrome bridge really sets it off too.
Superb!

Re: Latest project complete: UV7-SMC
Thanks for the positive comments everyone!
Its been a long and frustrating build. Whoever is making bodies for Herc at the moment isnt very good. ther neck pocket route was quite a bit out, and also he made a H-S-H instead of a H-H.
However, the neck pocket was fixable and the pickup routing mistake is not the worst that could have happened. I had spare 7 string single coils lying around so I didnt need to buy one... I think that particular single coil might have come from Kennydoe's UV777 BK (with the red swirl pickguard) about 7-ish years ago (might that be right Kenny?) but Im not sure.
sound clips soon! just need to figure out a way to record them with a decent enough quality.
