Mark Tremonti is a really great player and a great guy. He's a huge Paul Gilbert, Petrucci, and Satriani fan. I actually met him at G307 in Nashville. I wish people would get over all the Creed stuff too.

We can get over the Crud stuff, but then we have to deal with Altar Bridge. Being a fan of good guitar players doesn't make someone a good guitar player. I'm proof.

He can be the nicest guy in the world and his piss may cure lukemia, I still could do without his music.

sure he only uses the blues scale in his music but look at what he's playing. rock n' roll. it's based off of blues. his technique is kick butt. he just doesn't play to his fullest so he doesn't interfer with the context of the song.

I'd prefer to buy an instructional DVD from someone that is actually good enough to teach others.

I have no feelings, good or bad about Creed or Tremonti in any way. Ambivalent to a fault. Not a fan and not a hater...

Having said that I went to the site recommended, and was thoroughly bored to tears. Quite lame indeed...I got through about a minute of the clip before leaving. It did nothing for me...

Just saying...

I'd have to say that Dimebag does more for me than Tremonti ever will.

I too don't hate Tremonti. I just think that it takes more than being in a big band to be a good guitar teacher.

alter bridge is cool, but Tremonti needs to quit being a fag and put down the wah.. is it really necessary EVERY solo?

Re: Mark Tremonti's "The Sound and the Story" Instructional DVD

I've always been a fan of Tremonti, i really dont see how anyone can say he's not a good player.

Sure, he's not the best in the world, but so what, he still has alot of skill and alot of experience he can teach to other guitarists.

I guess some people are just unwilling to recognise what a player has to offer just because they're in a band they dislike

Re: Mark Tremonti's "The Sound and the Story" Instructional DVD

I dont think most people think he is terrible at all. To me he is just boring. He is a clean technical player for what he does, but he doesnt do anything extremely interesting and I havent enjoyed any band he has been in.

Sure he has stuff to offer, but I can think of plenty of other guitarists who can and do offer me everything he can and much more.

Re: Mark Tremonti's "The Sound and the Story" Instructional DVD

He actually improved as a soloist rather a lot from his days with Creed to Alter Bridge, and he's still one of my favorite riffers (even more so now that Scott Stapp isn't whining over his riffs). I'm not sure I'd buy an instructional DVD from the guy, exactly, but he's a pretty solid guitarist.
