Strange, I thought I heard that in an interview, mabie it was that they met when he (Jason) was in his second year of HS...yeah, thats probably it...

No he played with jason Becker in Cacophony, Mike Varney's super-shred group from the late 80s. They were good friends for years... years before Cacophony I believe.
