Re: Marty Friedman - Kind of a Little Wing jam
Another fine example of why
Marty Friedman
is the most diversified shredder in my opinion.

Marty is great!!!! I love his bends and vibratos, he's not a full scale shredder though but I love him a lot

I normally like Marty, but that sounded like someone beating a baby with a cat.

I disagree !!!!!
I thought it was more like somebody beating a seagull to death with some bagpipes.

Wow - great playing - that's right up there with Guthrie Govan! Recording a Little Wing
backing track
tonight to jam over - thanks for the inspiration.

Re: Marty Friedman - Kind of a Little Wing jam
Marty is a great player but he just can't play "Bluesy" his playing was sterile and emotionless, his phrasing was so tasteless IMHO.

Re: Marty Friedman - Kind of a Little Wing jam
I saw this video a while ago, pretty cool version, Marty Friedman has always been one of my favorite players.

Re: Marty Friedman - Kind of a Little Wing jam
i didn't want to say anything bad about marty, since he is a great player and one of my faves, but yeah, that kinda blew. that type of phrasing really doesn't fit over little wing at all, but it looks like this was recorded back in his megadeth days.
if you really want to hear some really do a little wing jam justice (besides srv), you should see
andy timmons
play over it.

Re: Marty Friedman - Kind of a Little Wing jam
OH!! Holy crap that reminds me!! CHECK OUT a guy from Texas, he usually only plays on an acoustic and his name is Monte Montgomery. The guy is pretty sick. I won't hijack this thread but I will start a new post with a link.

Re: Marty Friedman - Kind of a Little Wing jam
hes got riffs but I agree with Olie, kinda sterile... and the tone was sterile as well, cold , thin..when I watch him play he doesnt look fluid in his movement. dont get me wrong I respect Freidman but ya know how some people are just very fluid looking...

no, not really, they knew each other in HS, Marty was 2 years ahead of him, they became great friends and influenced each other in many, many ways.
