MONSTER shredder.....

Go to iTunes and search for Matthew Mills and the song Solo of Shred on Neoclassical Rock Guitar.

And then hold on to something heavy and immovable.

Your Welcome, Darin

Gosh I found it annoying. Obviously he's talented, but the repetitive nature of the solos...

I agree ,speed for the sake of speed is to me ultimately boring...you'll end up usually ,in a neoclassical cliche sounding like a Yngwie wannabe..

Its like theres no meaning behind any of the notes..IMHO

Re: MONSTER shredder.....

The song Solo of Shred, is 'pure' shred in it's true form. Granted, you can only take so much of it. But it's classically based and darn fast.

Sounds a lot like Impelliteri did back in like 1989.

I understand some people really like that, and it takes great skill to play, but not my "cup of tea" so to speak.

Re: MONSTER shredder.....

I think he's got fantastic talent and I don't want to criticize him, but it seems he's gotten so used to shredding with the metronome that he almost struggles keeping time on slow melodies.

The only reason I mention this is because it's a very common problem I've even seen frequently with "signed" guitarists and I think it's something people should focus on. I've always felt that the shredding should be part of the "color" and the actual meat of the playing should be soulful melodies.

+1

I love the Stand in Line album from Impellitteri. Also great vocals on that album.

Matt Mills can shred with the best of them. If you like shred? Well.. That's a matter of opinion

Personally, i love his phrasing and neo-classical licks.

Re: MONSTER shredder.....

i think he is a victim of what frank gambale says about in an interview i saw; "there are so many players that sweep and you cant hear the notes in the middle properly" *does a sweep that sounds like this guy*
"whereas it should sound like this"
*does perfect sweep with all the notes clear*
aside from that this guy is very technically able. his style doesn't really do it for me. the whole neo classical shred thing has been done to death already!
