my customized cheap guitar :P

hey guys! just thought of sharing these pics with all of you. this guitar used to be a prince lx-22g (some cheap korean made guitar, costed me around 60 bucks new , it was my first guitar)

before, it looked like this:

and then, since i love this guitar too much to let it go, i decided to customize it.. i love the guitar's colour and it's neck, it's surprisingly excellent for such a guitar..

the followings are the modification that i made on this guitar:
- routed the body so it will fit 2 humbuckers instead of single coils
- installed the breed pair from my dbk (my dbk has evos now, and oh, the white stuff around the pickups are tissue paper there are too much spacings around the pups im afraid it's gonna fall out of the ody)
- changed the knobs to chrome ones
- changed the bridge to a better quality one, cosmo black colour
- scalloped fret 12-24
- changed the tuners to grover ones
- repainted the neck

here are some of her pics:

the bad thing is that she doesn't stay in tune, she never was, damn these cheap korean made guitar :P

after the customization, the guitar became much better though, much better sounding, looks prettier too! for a 60 bucks guitar, this one is a killer! a friend of mine who has played professionally for more than 13 years was suprised to play this baby, he didn't think that this axe would play well.

this guitar is pretty much like a mixture between ibanez rg and fender. i'd say more to fender though, fender showmaster? the neck's thickness is in between a fender an an ibanez rg. the body's horns and headstock looks a little like rg but the lower end of the body is wide like fender's. the action is very low too! well not as low as ibanez but wouldn't hur your fingers at all

she's been through ups n downs with me, had a few gigs too. almost abandoned her after i got my dbk, but the memories i had with her made me pick up this baby again.

anyone has such an experience?

ps: can anyone help me with the intonation on this guitar? the problem with this guitar is that, any notes after the 12th fret is slightly out of tune. like, the open string's E A D G B E don't sound quite the same as the ones on 12th fret, let alone the 24th fret. might have to do with the settings on the bridge. probably the slight crack on the neck joint too. anyone?

cheers!

I see nothing.

Yahoo doesn't allow remote linking. Why not just give us a link to your gallery?

If you have the pics in Yahoo already, just put them in a public folder and share them.

Cool improvements! Why are there black outlines around the pickup mounting rings? And what's all that white stuff around the pickups?

thanks those black outlines were made using a permanent marker :P because i didn't have that many tools to do the routing so i had to use my hands, and i chipped some of the surrounding paints so i covered it up with the black permanent marker :P

the white stuff is tissue paper the space for the pups were a little too big for the pickups, and i don't have screws to hold them up onto the mounting rings.. so i stuffed up some tissue to 'stuck' them into the body :P it worked tho..

Did you manage to improve the instrument? I understand that it wasn't a great guitar before, but do you like it better after the mods?

I think it's cool! I looks much better with HH pups, and the head was cool also. Knobs even! Nice!

Not sure if the permanent marker thing is good or not, but it looks ok!
