My trip to Paris
Ok, so last week I was in Paris for five days. During my time there I took some photos, so I thought it would be cool to post some of them here. Enjoy.
I went to see an art exibition of David Lynch's work. I couldn't take any pictures inside the building where it was, though.
This tower was on an intersection somewhere. It kind of reminds me of the film 'Vertigo'.
This is a French food, called 'Croque monsieur'. Translated, I guess it's 'Crunchy Mister'. It's two slices of toast, with
ham
in between and a boatload of
cheese
on top. It was very tasty.
I'll post more pictures in a while.
Kind regards,
Alwin

. Reason: Added a color to the word 'ham'.

Re: My trip to Paris
Hi Andy.
Yep, I had a great time in Paris. It's a beautiful city. I went with a friend, and we saw the Eiffel tower, the Louvre, the art exibition and a lot more. One of the highlights for me, was seeing the Eiffel tower. Especially at night. It was magical. You'll see that in the pictures, I'll post soon. We also had the luck that we were there, while a light show was going on. The entire tower was sparkling with tiny white lights!
We also saw the Mona Lisa in the Louvre, along with works by Leonardo da Vinci and other well known painters.
I have to say, though, that certain parts of the city were really foul. There was spit, cigarette buts and crap all over the sidewalks. It was ghastly. And then other parts were really clean. It was strange.
Another thing that I found peculiar was that certain people just refused to speak English. Even when I politely said I wasn't so good at French yet. At a certain point, even, we were kind of lost in the subway. And the woman who worked at the information desk there, just kept talking French rapidly, not caring if I understood or not. I thought that was kind of harsh.
More pictures coming in a minute...

Re: My trip to Paris
These pictures give a good impression of how big the tower is. It's amazing to see.

Re: My trip to Paris
Cool pics
You will find that Anglo-French relations aren't always the best
(lots of history there, nothing to do with me though
), so a lot of them probably have no interest in speaking English!!

Re: My trip to Paris
I noticed that. Apparently, French people were/are called '
frogs
' by some English folk, because the French eat
frogs
. It was pretty funny how in this gift shop, there were these fluffy
frogs
for sale, as a reference to that. I thought that was pretty funny. Also, the English were/are called '
roast beef
' by certain French folk. Because they think the English are pale.
It's strange.
But not everybody I met was so rigid. A lot of people were very kind and helpful. When I asked some people the way, or when we were lost in the subway, they really tried to help as best as they could. And when they didn't know the way, they asked a random person who was passing by if they knew. They were very kind.
Coming up: pictures of more French food.

Re: My trip to Paris
My friend and I passed by this small bakery. I thought the window looked cool, so I asked if I could take a picture.
And this is the wrapping of a tuna sandwich I ate. It was delicious. The
bread
was super fresh, and FULL of taste. Also, it wasn't too hard or too soft... It was very good. Anyway, I took the picture, because I thought what it said on the thing was cool. It tells how the first sandwich was made in 1762. I think it says that there was this guy back then, who was called Lord J. M. de Sandwich. He was an explorer, and one night when he was playing cards, he was so into it, that he didn't want to leave the table. He got hungry and asked for two slices of bread and
meat
, hence creating the first sandwich.
Next, pictures of the Louvre.

Non, malheureusement. C'est dommage, non? I haven't seen any guitar stores in my stay there. Our hotel was in the south of Paris. I didn't see any stores there.

The Louvre.
In the Louvre, there is a lot of art. Sculptures, paintings... It's quite amazing.
