Check out the new Metallica song... It's a live recording... Sorta gets me excited about the new album coming out in Sept... What ye guys think?

Better than i feared. By no means a "great" song. Pretty average.
I've been a longtime fan, but St.Anger allmost made me give up. So for me this is the last chance, and i'm prepared to be disappointed.

Is this a joke? Those lyrics are terrible. They had more mature songs when they were teenagers. Actually, this sounds like what I would expect from a band of 15 year olds in a garage. "is that tears or is it rain?" "OOOOOH it calls your name?" Man, I used to love Metallica before they sucked.

I agree... I'm liking the riffs but not the vocal. Maybe the whole band had input in the vocal melodies and lyrics rather than just james and lars... as with St. Anger.

Awful. Atrocious.

I wish someone would tell James that he not sing so he should stick to the style that suits him best as found on Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All. You don't see Tom Araya trying to do freaking Bohemian Rhapsody do you?

The guitars are not even that great at all. The riffs are real...meh...

Listen to Orion and Damage Inc, then listen to this. This is just pure crap.

Metallica is coming to my city this December. I have NEVER seen them in concert. (I came close to seeing them on tour here in '88 for the And Justice tour, but sadly missed it).

In light of this *new* song (after being hugely disappointed with St. Anger), I am no longer feeling tempted to buy tickets...

That's a totally ridiculous statement. Have a look at the setlists theyre playing...for instance here's the one from that show.

Creeping Death, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Ride The Lightning, Harvester of Sorrow, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Cyanide (the new track), And Justice For All, No Remorse, Fade to Black, Master of Puppets, Damage Inc, Nothing Else Matters, Sad But True, One, Enter Sandman, Mercyful Fate, Seek and Destroy.

Now, do you see anything from Load/Reload/St. Garbage on that setlist? Look at other ones too....they really just stick to the good stuff live with maybe one song from load/reload or st. anger.

Well thanks. I had not seen a recent setlist. Where did you find that?

That's similar to the set list they played when I saw them a year or so ago at Wembley. They pretty much played the classics and stayed away from the later ****e. Plus I got to hear them play Orion for the first time

From what little I've heard of their new stuff, I'm not overly impressed but I'm going to wait for the new album before making any sort of judgement. Although gotta say despite Rick Rubin producing the album, I'm not really expecting anything like MOP or AJFA
