New Song - Recorded with POD XT pro

Hey there,

I've just finished recording a song I've been working on for a long time. I actually wrote this one for my g/f (yep, another one for another girl) and wanted it to be ready for valentines. yay me! lol

Well, I recorded it with a mixture of a real acoustic guitar mic'd with a shure sm57 and 2 different ibanez's going through a POD XT pro straight into Cakewalk pro audio.

This is also my first attempt at a full song which is practically all solo. I tried so desperately hard to not just fill up space with notes. The solo's have been recorded, re-recorded, and re-recorded. When are you supposed to stop? Basically the solo's are all improvised. I knew what notes I wanted to land on at times, but all the bits in between were improvised. Please excuse some of the dud notes

While recording this song I was still working on the tones of the pod...

Anyway, let me know what you think of the song, tone of the pod xt, and anything else

The Melodies are beautiful. I like, the tones, but like the sound of the acoustic more than the POD.

Did you record with a click track, so you can add drums & bass later... if you want?

Really good stuff. Not only did it sound good tonewise, the mix was good and clear, BUT the song was also well done. It set a nice mood with the constant acoustic strumming and choice of chords!

Thanks guys!

I did record with a click track. The breakdown at about 55secs is a little weird though. 3 guitars, 1 on the beat, 1 1/4 beat off, the third is a little off that (totally not on purpose, I kept the thing at 4 4 even though that part isn't ) . Click is at 145 beats.

I do want to put drums and bass to it. I think it'd flesh it out nicely. Wouldn't do standard drums though, something syncopated is called for i think. But, I don't have any drum sounds that I like on the computer nor do I have a drum kit, drummer, and enough mic's for a kit handy. I also don't have a bass...I wonder if the pod can make my guitar sound like a bass... hmmm.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to the song . Your kind words really do mean alot. I hope my g/f likes the song! I picked her up from the airport today (she's been in Portugal then London for the past 4 weeks). I haven't given her a copy of the CD yet. I gave her a ring today with an inscription...I'll give her the CD tomorrow on valentines. Really hope she likes it.
