Hey Dudes
For about a year now i have had a dead fret on my RG550 on the 16th fret on the B. just a dead note.
so tonight, i was bored, and sick of modding strats :P so i thought id try to fix it....
welll
the idea in my head was to take some old frets from my older broken RG450 neck and retrofit them into the RG550 neck in the troubled spots.
so i did this, and it worked.
i fixed up my frets and they intonated and worked just fine, DIY fret success! i just rubber mallet`d them in there and it works a treat...
well i coulda stopped just there....
but no
i thought, well since i hardly play this guitar...LETS GO NUTS
i took out my dremmel tool and about an hour later the neck looked like this....
I scalloped the frets from the 15th onward....
BUT....Me not being a carpenter didnt realise how easy that
maple neck burns,
unfortunately i did a nasty black burny thing on the 15th fret, so i coloured it in and made a nice little mouth... added some teeth and now i have a bad boy guitar! LOL
Just FYI
the guitar plays and sounds great, no fret buzz, the
scalloped frets will take a while to get used to, but it sure is fun
Peace
Jim
