Basically here's the chain:
PRS SE or Prestige 2620 > Line6 XTLive
pedal board >JSX > Legacy 2x12 > SM57 > Art
Tube Preamp > Lexicon Omega external 24bit 'soundcard' > Dell running Cubase > Alesis M1 Active nearfield reference monitors.
I've getting into the habit of recording guitar dry. It usually needs very little done to it once recorded. If anything a slight boost in the mids for the lead to bring it out in the mix.
Before recording any solo's, just when I have a decent rhythm recorded. I copy it to 2 other tracks. Pan 2 of them hard right and left. Eq them slightly different and maybe add a tad of verb to one side. The middle track I may throw a 'little' chorus on and have buried in the mix pretty deep. If I record a 2nd rhythm , I leave them both on single track, but pan them left and right about 75%.
The Bass is a Warwick 5 string Thumb through an Avalon U5, the very same setup used by Jeff Abercrombie from Fuel, really, I got it from him. I usually add a teeny bit of chorus to the bass as well. You almost can't hear it even when listening to just the bass. But you can tell when you bypass it. It gives the bass a nice full sound.
