Absolutely stunning job on that Rotti. Kind of reminds me of a Fender CS ad.

Sweet guitar in that add. I kind of like the ashtry on the bridge. You don't see that a lot on Strats. And thanks for all the kind words everyone. Here is a photo of the back.

Re: pics of my strat project.

VERY NICE !
I'd like to do my own version of a Malmsteen Strat, but with deeper contoured scallops, more like the James Byrd models
So what was the final build tally on the project?

Thanks bluealien.

Build tally? right arond $500. The neck and body were a good deal but all the little things add up.

Re: pics of my strat project.

Looking at the pics one more time makes me wish I had a vintage 50's Strat. I have a white Mexican made Strat with a maple fretboard that I want to spice up somehow. This Strat truly came out real nice!

It's comes in satin finish but I decided to laquer it. In the first photo there is tape on the neck near the headstock because I was done laquering the back but wanted to add a few more coats to the headstock.

I tried two waterslide decals I orderd from **** and both of them didn't work for me so I made my own peel and stick decal. The paper is nice and thin and I was able to print it with an inkjet printer with good results. It took several coasts of laquer and wet sanding to get the decals to blend in. In the photo below the headstock is clear coated and wet sanded, it just needs to be polished.

The body is an Ash strat type body from KnE guitars in the USA.

Now I'm waiting for some hardware to arrive so I can fit everything together before I finish the body. If anyone is interested I can post more photos as I progress. Thanks for looking.

DUDE WE GOT THE SAME MOUSE =] and did you print your own sticker?

thats cool

Re: pics of my strat project.

great job! i like the look of it, even though it's not my color, it still looks great!
i actually yelled "NO!" when i was scolling thru the first few pages and got to the pics of the body with the primer on it - i really liked the look of the natural ash - but that's me.
i'll second (or third) the TZ single or possibly a JB Jr might be a nice choice for he bridge.
thanks for sharing your experience!

Re: pics of my strat project.

Daphne blue. It's one of those colors you either love it or hate it. I was also tempted to go with the natural wood color once I saw it with the sealer on but I had planned for Daphne Blue so I stuck with it.

And yep I did print my own decal. It worked great. The hardest part was making the logo in photoshop. Some people wonder if the ink will fade because it's from an inkjet printer. Only time will tell but I think because of the coats of laquer, it is prety well protected.
