Project Moves Forward (SANDING SUCKS) Not 56k Friendly :)

Ok moved onto phase III of this project.. Its been fun so far and im beginning to double think about swirling this LOL. For a Poplar body it has a very nice grain and isnt green and murky like most Poplar I have dealt with.

The front and back are done, and all is left is the sides and those pesky horns which are going to be a (insert your own cuss word here)

Anyways here is the break down

Phase I: Get the balls to destroy a perfectly good paint job (COMPLETED)
Phase II: Get the kryptonite they call paint off the guitar (COMPLETED)
Phase III: Sand of the sealer coat (Semi Completed)

Hmmmmm whats this

Tools of the trade, heat gun, paint scraper, sander, and of course hand and paper

Finished Work for today..

Yeah, go with a natural or a transparent color, very nice grains for poplar..

I just ordered Green Tone Zone and Air Norton and the hardware is black..

so it would look wierd stained unless I stain it say a medium green color..

hmmmmm

ok back to sanding im open to suggestions.. Its really a nice grain LOL.. Poplar is supposed to be green and ugly..

Well after 6-7 hours of work today shes sanded clean, no sealer, nothing.. Now just got to smooth her up a bit maybe tommorrow..

In the pics it looks shiney in spots thats just me being impatient for the denaturated alcohol to dry.. Had to get all that fricking dust off it.

Im really looking for opinions now this has got me confused as to how I want to finish it..

Anyways to be continued......

Wow. I really dig that wood grains.
Leave the greens pus, make a nice purpleburst finish and put creme pickups.
Cheers,
Tubarão.

Re: Project Moves Forward (SANDING SUCKS) Not 56k Friendly :)

Update: decided I didnt want a translucent guitar due to pickup color, hardware color, and me not wanting it LOL..

I decided it will not be swirled either, I am going to paint it Mystic Dream like the Petrucci model..

anyways more pics.. First layer of sandable build primer is on.. Going to let it sit 24 hrs then due a very light sanding and then another layer of the build primer. I dont care for grain filler and when I refinished guitars in the past I always used build primer to fill the grain.
