Shameless Self-Promotion
Hi guys,
I've put some stuff up on my site.
There's a selection of some of the music I've been making throughout the last 5 or 6 years. Check it out, and - if you feel like it after doing so - spit it out.
I'm currently working on some, even if I say myself, amazing stuff. I just felt a Need to put a "palette" of an overview of my "old" stuff to the test of Appreciation by the Dwellers of my most-beloved-guitar-site, which is the one you're currently appreciating. I esteem your input highly, as I regard you all as my Peers, and for thus We Are The Same.
With that said, All has been Said, so here's the link:
http://www.mediara.com/jeanpaul/music.htm
Be prepared for a bizarre range of musical styles, even worlds I would almost say. It ranges from Pure Synth to Pure Shred.
It's some of the best I've done until now, and I'm Proud of it regardless the feedback. So with all Confidence possible in my Heart, I Dare to say: Enjoy!
Regards,
Jean Paul López - Demogorgos Benedictus

Re: Shameless Self-Promotion
Interesting...
I only have listened to the first two, because it seems to take quite a while to download.
The only thing I really have to say right off the bat, is that the lead guitar tone is very, well, ice-pick is the first term that comes to mind.
I know that everyone has their own tastes, but I would definitely be interested in hearing some of that with the treble cranked down and a little mid, more of a silky lead.
I do think that in some parts that tone might compliment, though.
Seems like something might need to be cut out of that lead mix , but you've definitely got some good beats and mixes going on!

First of all, thank you for partaking in my Being by listening to my music. It's an aspect and something I thoroughly Enjoy and Appreciate of this particular site, to be able to hear (and see, like in the case of Ben aka the "Egster"
) the work of guitar-crazed beings like myself, apart and beyond from the "Pablos" "Joes", "Steves" and "Guthries" (Yeah dude!! You made it to my list!
Guthrie Govan
is officially declared Ruling and Owning Guitar Gawd) and many others. BIG KUDOS go out to Glen for Creating this Place in the First place. Thy Haved Fashioned ThySelve as a HighPriest to be Reckoned in the Universe of Shred by the Works thy have Brought Forth!
Glen Rules and Ownes too, thus.
Yeah, I really STRIVE to pick every f*cking note with the intonation, overtones and embellishment required. Form & Function and all of that. Although I also REALLY like Mindless Shredding from time to time. Like now for example. Been busy leveraging new software (I'm an IT guru for a living) and hadn't played for like the last 120 hours (which is to the point of unbearable in my own particular case). Just loaded my UV with a brndnew set of D'as, 7-pack. aaaaaaaaah, better than sex man, I swear to gawd!

Thank you so much again for your kindness and Appreciation. I know that the mixing dimension is still not my forte. I just remembered how I once "published" a flawless piece of Shred to this forum, and when I heard how it sounded mixed-down by JimmyJ's remarks on this forum, I realized I had ruined the whole tune by not having it mixed down right. I've always been an "analog guy", the stuff that's up now is all "digital", I only started out digital (even being a PhD in CS) in 2000.
Thank you for your constructive input. The tunes you have not yet heard are not really shred, and mixed better, that's for certain!
Be Well.
Regards,
JP

It's funny, I've gotten a chance to listen to some of the others now (it's taking forever to download) and it is really reminding me of a lot of electronic music I listen to.
I actually don't really listen to too much guitar virtuoso shred type stuff, mainly electronica, and I can hear a lot of stuff that I like, a la, Junkie XL, King Unique, etc, it in.
I just think on your first two tracks, there is something about the lead that is too harsh.
I like the lead tone on Breeze a lot better.
But I think overall, it's pretty good, especially due to the fact that I'm a pretty big electronica type of guy.
There is something about the beats that I can't place, almost DJ Shadow like...

Dude,
I lived in Madrid for like 13 years, and from 2001 to 2004 was involved with Major DJ's. Some of the Greatest are my Friends and stayed at my place in Madrid and all that ****
I had a production company that hosted events with the biggest name in the house and techno scene. Been there, done it all (!!!!)
and got the T-shirt. Nowadays I do my own thing and I'm far removed form the Abyss of Vice that is the World that these fellows live in.
Yeah, "The Beat" is a great thing to be added to Guitar in general. What you heard until now are mere "experiments". It has all matured a lot more, and like I said, I'm busy with new exciting/amazing stuff. I'm really happy with your input. And be prepared to hear more of this kind in the future
Some of my closest friends say that "Esgarrat" could be be right on "
Crystal Planet
" by Satch. I dunno, I like that line and I'm gonna continue in that direction.
Thank you again for your time.
Regards,
JP

Re: Shameless Self-Promotion
Pretty cool stuff.
My girlfriend actually just came into the room and was like "why can't we listen to this type of stuff when we go to bed?" (the song breeze).
So I guess you got some props from her, too!

Man, there are no Words to express my Gratitude for letting me know that. You see, "Breeze" is a Magical Tune. I composed it with the Intention to make the Human that Hears it relax, and Feel Well and Alive. Your GF apparently "caught" that ""vibe".
Thank you so much again for your Feedback.
Be Well.

She's a pretty interesting judge of music, considering she only owns 1 cd. Usually when she likes something, it must be good!
But it's funny, I mostly listen to progressive house and trance. There is a small genre of house (deep house) that I can get down with, and your beats are doing a pretty good job!

Thanks for the mention mate, I didn't think that you'd have even taken the time to look at my daft youtube stuff.
I hope your music and recording goes realy well. I'm not able to download the tracks at the moment but it'd be realy cool if you were able to show us some of your playing via youtube/myspace. That way I'd have a better chance of being able to appreciate it.
PS If people didn't do any self pro-mo and they just kept themselves too themselves things would get boring very fast. I feel that we are all very lucky that we can come here and converse with people from across the world about our views.
