On the G3 - live in Tokyo DVD, you can hear him say that he uses the
Ibanez Tube screamer
, because it's not quite as 'fat' as the DS-1. Therefore, it leaves more room for other players. Maybe he uses the DS-1
because
it's 'fat', in other situations.
Joe Satriani
also still uses the DS-1 on one song, although I don't know which one. Possibly 'Psycho monkey', since a 'fat' sound works great for that song.

Re: Steve and his effects
It's a t.c. electronics - G-System
a floor based G-Force multieffect
@ the DS-1
no, I think he asks because Steve used the Keeley modded DS-1 before and now it's a new one if I'm right...
@ the EVH-pedal
thats just the "mxr phase90" Phaser that seems to appear on most pedal boards in the last months - petrucci uses one also

LOL, I know why he uses one, I used one in front of a legacy too, as well as a TS-808. But in the last year or so he switched from a Keeley modded one to a Analogman modded one, and I'd like to know why he went from Keeley to Analogman, is it really a better modded pedal? Does it sound better? Does it sound better with the G-System? What is the meaning of life?

The G-Sytem is great. Steve used it for the Zappa plays Zappa Tour.
Doesn´t he use the seeing eye mod ds-1 on his solo tours anymore?

All the mods do is change the clipping style of the distortion or the eq, I believe theres only a few variations you can do so I guess people put their name to them for some reason but anyone could mod one with whatever clipping style they want.
