Heck, you can hear it's Vai right from the first notes.

I must say I was hoping for some insane shredding there, and that did not happen. Nice press for Steve, though. Guitar virtuosos need to capture the minds of the younger generation and force them to play guitar.

It's great playing, but does anyone else think the electric guitar sounds incredibly weak when contrasted with the strings and the monk chants?

yeah you can totally tell it's Vai. And I kind of agree, in some spots it sounds weak against the stringed section. But it's definetly got some awsome bits in it. As a whole song, I liked it. It's got more drive to the song than before. But I think Vai could've toned it down a bit.

It's only a portion of the whole song.

This song sort of reminds me of Yngwie playing on "The Fury" by Derek Sherinian. I don't think Yngwie could have done as good of job on this track though.

heh, I mean as the band together. If I was just focusing on Vai... it wouldn't be all that great. But coupled with the strings (probably fake anyways but who cares) and the melody and crazy singing monks (again probably also fake) it really rounds out the song. Gives it a little more depth.

The intro sucks a bit but that is IMHO the guitar killing it. But the rest sounds pretty neat!

I'm really excited to see how non-guitarists and people who don't know who Steve Vai is will react.

Guys.....in my little opinion this is not good....The guitar destroys the original Halo theme wich really is an amzing piece of music and Steve does nothing else than doubling it with a overdriven guitar and then improvising a bit. It sounds like he had only one time to do it, it's not well produced, sounds like a playback recording and bad mixing....steve is god but this peace is ****...

I sort of agree...it would have been better to keep the original theme, or have a total rock band rendition of it instead of trying to mix the two.

Great tune, just a shame about the tone of the guitar. I hope the version on the game doesn't sound like that.
