Steve Vai VS Ralph Macchio in CrossRoads

I browsed the YouTube and came across these two great video clips

http://youtube.com/watch?v=4T1EulZ6R...ch=Steve%20Vai

http://youtube.com/watch?v=8hdyr_Zoq...ch=Steve%20Vai

Man, I never get bored watching this movie.

Re: Steve Vai VS Ralph Macchio in CrossRoads

I have a funny Jack Butler story (must know Jack Butler details to appreciate this).

After that movie came out I transferred to Memphis State to enroll in the Sound Engineering program. One of the assignments was to go observe a recording session and write a paper about it. Well me and two others went to Sounds Unreel. We observed a few hours, then proceeded to leave at about 2 AM. It was a cold and foggy night, and the studio was in this run down looking part of town. A musician type dude approached us on the sidewalk and started to talk to us. His eye pupils were extremely red, even more than your typical bloodshot drunk has, almost like they were made of fire. We were in jackets shivering in the fog, and he was just wearing a shirt, like as if he had some internal heat keeping him warm. He introduced himself, and the name I caught was....Jack Butler. He mentioned he was coming over to lay down some tracks. At that point I thought maybe he was going to challenge me to "cut heads". Here I was face to face with the Devil's guitarist, and I knew I didn't have the chops to beat him! Well to end the story, it turned out it wasn't Jack Butler, but Memphis session ace Jack Holder (played on Tracy Chapman and John Kilzer albums). Stupid story, I know, but I always thought it was funny.

How is it? I had never seen the whole movie yet. Trying to get hold of the DVD at the local DVD stores, but they said that they do not keep the movie in stock. Could not blame them because it is quite an old movie.I guess I have to try and purchase it at Amazon.com.

Netflix has it.

The outcome of the scene still ticks me off, though.

Re: Steve Vai VS Ralph Macchio in CrossRoads

its interesting how ralph macchino spends the whole movie trying to become a great bluesman, then has to play in a neo classical style to beat vai.
