Steve Vai's Die to live (clip of me playing)
It's a video I made today, playing Die to live. Hope you can squeeze a couple of minutes in to watch
, but if not it's great to post here again, as it's been a real long time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrATYC9CGZU
It has a minute audio issuses... smal crackling in some spaces. Dunno why Check it out! And in one part I did mess up quite considerably... I think
p.s.: oh yeah and I have the headphones on, cuz originally I wanted to record audio separately in Audacity and then replace the original audio from the video. But I didn't quite figured it out yet So I just pushed the
backing track
in the video's audio instead

Re: Steve Vai's Die to live (clip of me playing)
Very nice job! I just saw Vai last night and was hoping he'd play Die To Live, which he did. One of my favorite songs by Vai, keep it up. There were a few mistakes, but you managed to recover and keep in time.
What gear were you using? I see the Ibanez Prestige, looks like a Zoom unit sitting on top of something I couldn't make out.

Haven't heard that song in a while. Nice choice in gear. Your tone is just as good, if not better, than Vai's. Good job.

Re: Steve Vai's Die to live (clip of me playing)
Thank you very much for listening, I apreciate it. Thanks to Guitarmeister, Andy43 and FloridaNative.
p.s.: Gitarmeister: the gear was as follows: Ibanez 1570 Presitge-->Mesa boogie studio preamp-->Tech 21 Trademark 60 (cuz I just can't open up the 50/50 power amp
) clean channel on tweed setting--> Zoom G2 1.u effects unit in the effecs loop (tape echo)--> vintage Jensen speaker (it's under the Tech)

Better playing than just about any other cover I've seen. The tone was a bit off, but still damn good, and closer than anything else I've heard.
Nice job.

Re: Steve Vai's Die to live (clip of me playing)
Thanks Martyr Machine, Trerva and Distantshore, I'm really flattered and apreciate that you've taken the time to listen to it.
Yeah the tone is always a problem, i guess it would be better if I ran it through my Mesa 50/50, but it's jsut to loud, when driven to about 4 out of ten, where it smoothenes out. Maybe I should buy an atenuator. But they cost monex...
p.s.: I seem to have a problem on youtube. I can't find my video if I do a regular search in the search window. Can't even find it if I organize the videos to show me the latest that were added. And I added mine 17 hours ago
What's wrong? ANy Idea?

Re: Steve Vai's Die to live (clip of me playing)
I knew it was some sort of preamp, I can't believe I didn't notice you were using a Mesa Studio pre. Great playing, looking forward to another clip or video.
