Tender Surrender

I've been working on this for awhile and i find it difficult to get it perfected. It just seems like the tab i have(the alien love secrets tab book by hal leonard or cherry music i dunno) doesn't have all the notes in it. Also i can't seem to get his tone. Any advice or tips would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks guys

Re: Tender Surrender

You can get that tone at the beginning by switching to your neck pickup and rolling your Volume knob down to about 30-40%

Also, lots of Low EQ-knob on your amp is good.

Re: Tender Surrender

Well let me tell you that unfortunately no tab out there is 100% accurate
often times you will find that you will have add to it or change things around
for example for me to really nail this song I had to spend a great deal of time listening to it very carefully to try to get the nuances and to memorize it so that when practicing the individual segments I would know what they had to sound like even at a slow speed then I checked other tab books, I also own the Japanese score version of Alien Love secrets, this is helpful because it gives you different perspectives of the transcription and finally you just have to let your ear do some tweaking on some of the phrases and viola! you got it.
It will take some time to get it down but it's worth it, it's a beautiful song
have fun with it and once you have down practice it with the backing track.

Re: Tender Surrender

yeah i think listening helps more then anything . Just sit back and listen to it over and over again . Stop and get your guitar and try to find the same notes . this is where tabs help out because they do give a starting place to work from . If possible find a video of steve playing it or really anyone that is playing it and watch the way they move thier hands. Dont play when you listen , you often dont hear the little things that make the song sound good if you play when the song is playing .

Best of luck , it is freaking hard to do it all by ear , i sure as hel have tried and can't do it for crap and have listened to the songs over and over .

Re: Tender Surrender

Maybe worth remembering, these transcriptions are usually not by the original artist, but some-one else's interpretation,so that does not guarantee 100% accuracy.Good luck with the song.

Re: Tender Surrender

thanks for all the tips and advice guys, I really appreciate it. I'm think im going to just take it part by part and really listen to the cd as you guys said. Also, I'm going to ask my friend if I can borrow that device that lets you slow down the tracks(i forgot the name) so I can get it really accurate. Thanks again!
