The Extreme Guitarshop Sweep Picking Lick [YouTube]

The Extreme Guitarshop Sweep Picking Lick

Ever since I started playing the guitar seriously, the most metaphysical question of all was: which lick is perfectly suited for playing in a guitarshop.

Atention please! Can somebody stop this bad ass kid from shredding our guitars!

The lick starting at 00:08 sounds very Shawn Lane-ish.

Knowing Bosch, I can tell you he's influenced by Shawn Lane. Look at the lick starting at 8 seconds and then listen to some of Shawn's licks here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57q5zdvMw58

And just for the hell of it, check out SHawn's picking hand here, especially near the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOLZ6z959U8

I don't think he was going for emotion at all, though. Not all of us want to sit there crying all the time dude. Besides, the better your technique, the better you can express emotion. Bad technique = zero emotion = sterile licks. Works both ways.

Yeah, I remember reading an interview with Al Di Meola. He said that he worked so diligently on his technique so that, eventually, he would be able to express anything he wished to play with technical ease, all while concentrating more on emotion, etc.
