Video request

Hey,

I'm an edge pro newbie, and i have read countless artcles on how to change the strings but i was wondering if anyone would like to make a video of them doing it, like talking you through the process. I'm sure loads of people would appriecate (sorry for the sp) a video like this. I have looked on youtube and found nothing that involves a edge pro.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Video request

Wait, isn't Edge pro the one where you can leave the ball ends in the bridge? If it is, then it's not exactly the same procedure as an OFR or older Edges.

Re: Video request

Ok, my bad, you can still string it normally as an OFR.

No, you don't need to prop it up as long as you change one string at a time. Also, I suggest you don't cut the string ball ends off, but put them through the tuners, sort of like Rich does here

Re: Video request

You can do both on the Edge Pro. With or without balls .

Re: Video request

It isnt recomended to leave the balls, the wound bit at the end helps lock the string in and you cant get it in there if dont cut the balls off.

That is so ugly to have them hanging off the tuners like that.

Re: Video request

yeah i think i'll laeve the balls on. Can some clarify a few thingsa for me please:

1)I won't need to prop my edge pro if i change a string at a time.
2)Should i prop my bridge up when im re stringing my guitar, when i have just taken all the strings off and cleaned the neck/bridge/body etc?

Thanks

Re: Video request

Its not necesary but it might be easier proping it at the normal angle (0) rather than 45 like he does (this is just to get at the bolts which you dont have to do with a lo profile).

As far as I know, you don't need to change the bridge angle to lock and unlock string blocks (to put strings in), so it can stay the way it is. If you change one string at a time, the bridge angle won't change too much, so there is no need to prop it up.

If you take all strings off to clean the guitar, the bridge will end up angled like this "\" inside the cavity, or will rest on the body. Depending on the type of bridge and cavity (I never dealt with the Edge Pro, only with FR bridges) this can scratch the finish, and you'd need to do more work getting the bridge back to the correct angle, so it's probably easiest to stick something under the bridge to keep it in the right position.
