What Are Your Signature Licks?

Have you come up with a signature lick of your own? You know, like, you can hear, say, Steve Vai play some lick/phrase, and you know right away it's Steve Vai....just they way he puts the notes together. Satriani has the same thing, for instance the way he likes to rapidly tap with his pick. You just know that's Satriani doing that. So, on my way into work I thought it would be really cool to showcase our own signature licks. Well, maybe the word "showcase" isn't a good word to use. That makes it sound like a competition, and that's not what this is about. Thank of it as a database that we contribute to and show others what we've come up with, share, and others can learn from it.

I've got a few that I've come up with, so what I was thinking of doing is recording them and posting them up so we all can hear them and I'll also put up tab so you can see what it is I'm doing. I can't do it until I get home from work today, but I thought this would be pretty cool to do.

It doesn't matter if you've just started playing or if you've been playing for years. You could put up something technical and intricate or something that's smooth and slow.

So what do you all think? Does anyone want to put up some samples so we can hear your signature licks?

EDIT: I meant to add, it could either be a mp3 file or on youtube.....something like that.

Re: What Are Your Signature Licks?

I have a couple things that show up under my fingers all the time, I don't know if they're so much "signature licks" as "hackneyed cliches",

First one:
Code:
------------------------------
------------------------------
---2h3p2p0-------3---3-3
------------3-2--3---3-3
------------------------------
------------------------------

------------------------------
------------------------------
---2h3p2p0-------2---2-2
------------3-2--2---2-2
------------------------------
------------------------------

------------------------------
------------------------------
---2h3p2p0-------0---0-0
------------3-2--0---0-0
------------------------------
------------------------------

------------------------------
------------------------------
---2h3p2p0----------------
------------3-2--2---2-2
-----------------2---2-2
-----------------0---0-0
Ok, tabbing that out in a non-fixed width font was so painful, I can't bear to do the other one (you're not missing much.)

I have a signature tonic meandering*, but no licks.

I wrote this out as legato, but I'm picking every note or there abouts.

EDIT: Got the file uploaded. Just go here and you can hear what it sounds like. The second lick on the tab is actually the first sample on the mp3. Sorry I did them in reverse. If you have any comments about it I welcome it.

:agreed: I do this thing where I f*ck up a lot.

Idunno if I have "signature licks" - I just sort of wing everything. For audio examples, I've got some demos on my myspace - http://www.myspace.com/drewpeterson7. The track that auto-plays is pretty recent, last month or two, and is pretty indicative of how I try to sound. I can tab out (or try, rather, this was an improv) anything that catches your ear...
