your critique, por favor
okay, i've offerred up some (constructive) criticism in the past. time for y'all to lay the boot into me!
here's a little ditty i recorded some time last year. the backing loop is a bit informercial...
damiengaltdotcom's sillymusic
it gains a little bit of interest around the 1:27 mark when i switch to my rgt42 (this was pre jem days).

Hi damo,
Nice song! Nice riffs! nice technique!
I have just to say that IMO you go too quick from melody to that fantastic riffs.... and don't wait another year to record your new one, OK?

Re: your critique, por favor
The intro is interesting.
At first I was thinking "Oh crap.. DISCO!!!" but it changed to sort of a latin fusion sounding thing.
I think your playing shows a lot of talent and skill
If I have any suggestions-
* lighten up the distortion that you're using- it conceals the articulation of your phrasing.
* Make your lead playing a little more to the front - the melody is pretty loud but the solo bit is sort of in the background. Even if you have to thin out the
backing track
to make it stand out, I'd do it.

Re: your critique, por favor
umm...
epi les paul
(the one i have for sale!), ibanez rgt42fm, maybe another guitar (can't remember)... boss gt6... straight into soundcard... running adobe audition.
i generally like my guitar tone quite straightforward. gain, reverb/delay, wah. i'm not into using modulation effects for lead playing.

one of my favourite practice techniques has always been riffing over the top of music that is fairly solo-guitar-unfriendly. stuff like dave brubek's take five. probably sounded like crap, but it gets you thinking.
there was a time when disco and guitar rock were diametrically opposed. my sole purpose is to see them kiss and make-up. the results may well sound like porn music.
