Re: CHICKENFOOT

When I first heard Joe and Chad were forming Chickenfoot, the only thought going through my head was "please Sammy, don't f*** up a potential good thing with your love lyrics". Well, I listened to a couple tracks from their My Space page when the disc was released; sure enough, Sammy generated some of the lamest lyrics in rock history. I burned the CD from Rhapsody to at least give it a fighting chance. Aside from Joe's tone and Chad being able to go off every fourth tune or so, it's a very disappointing stab at what could of been a great album. I would of liked to hear more experimental jams. Not radio friendly pop. If you want to hear Chad go off, listen to him playing on Glenn Hughes latest release. Incredible disc! Oh well, just my two-cents. I'm assuming there are others that totally agree with me.

Exactly. Is like apples and oranges. Or as Vai would say, "Apples and Beef Yogurt".

Re: CHICKENFOOT

Did this happen to anyone else, or just me?:

Heard they were going on tour, bought tickets, didn't get the CD until like 3 days before the show, listened to it like crazy to try and remember all the songs, went to the concert, loved it, but didn't really know the songs, listen to them ever more after the show, and really really reallly want to see them again?

Re: CHICKENFOOT

Sorry for the bump but I was lucky enough to get a free ticket to the last date or their tour at the Gibson Amphitheater. You could feel the chemistry and energy between the band and although I really don't care for the music it was a very cool show.

Those saying that Satch stooped to a new low or something I think the complete opposite. I've seen him live 3 times, once at G3, once for the Surfing With The Alien mini tour and finally with Chickenfoot. I think the Chickenfoot was the most interesting and entertaining of the three by far. It's refreshing to see him in a vocal band, even though he did throw in his whammy tricks in every song. Literally.

Highlights of the show:

- Chad Smith! My first time seeing him in concert, he is a great drummer and completely destroyed his set at the end of the show.
- Joe playing some acoustic guitar. Haven't seen that before.
- Joe's tone!!! I had no idea he'd switched to Marshalls. I've always thought his peavys were complete garbage. During the Surfing With The Alien show his tone didn't even cut through.. and it was in a tiny place.. I was standing less than 10 feet away from the amp. He had a great tone that cut through and was just right for rhythm and solos.

Overall it was a fun show. Chickenfoot is just a band made up of awesome musicians with tons of energy and mediocre songs. It is what it is.

Re: CHICKENFOOT

What could Satriani have done to outshine his previous accomplishments? The guy rejuvinated instrumental rock and spawned a legion of new guitar players. I'm sorry, but everything after Surfing and Flying was downhill (figuratively).

It's great to hear Satch in a different format. It's fun music, riff rock.

Re: CHICKENFOOT

Slightly off this topic, but has anyone checked out the new MF catalog for the holidays? I totally thought they got Will Ferrel to stand in with Santa Satch until I read the details. It's worth a look since Chad reprises "Buddy the Elf" so well.
