D Theater/Satch/king's X Houston 8/17

this is the closest that these guys are playing to me so far. They aren't booked here in New Orleans yet... sooooo I'm thinking of a road trip. Any Houston guys going?

The date has been changed, it's now on 8/18 this from the dreamtheater web site.

There will be several of us from Houston attending the show. There may also be a couple out of state friends flying down for it.

It would be good to all hook up before the show somewhere. It's at the new theater, so I duno know what is available for restraints or bars. Let's keep this thread going for any suggestions or plans.

cool Bob, I have every intention of making the show. The only thing that would kill it for me is I have a possible gig that night, but the venue has been bouncing back and forth on the date...I've got my fingers crossed.
When do you think tickets will be up for sale?

They're actually coming to Austin! BUT, I think I'm driving down to catch it in Houston anyway. I have a good friend in Houston I haven't seen in about a year...so itll be two days of nonstop guitars...sweet! Were planning on getting tickets in the really good close seating...we dont care what it'll cost. I might get a gmc jemsite shirt just for this....hmmmm

Just checked the DT site... they have only one show left to confirm. I'm pretty shure it's NOT going to be here. So, looks like Houston or nothing for me. Are you guys planning on meeting and doing a "micro jemfest" before the show?
Also, is the show Gen admission or assigned seating?

A micro jemfest sounds cool. The tickets are on sale and it is NOT gen. admission. Looking forward to the jam.

I am unsure about a jam before the show, but you better believe I will try to get one going. I will be sporting a fully functional studio in my home by that time. In fact, it's working now in a limited capacity. Greg or Gabe have the superior homes for hosting a jam though. All I have is the pool and a bunch of noisy Dogs. My studio space is only about 360 Sq. feet.

Tickets should be available at cc.com. Also, Yes with the Houston symphony on the same weekend, is a show to look at. Then on the 27th or 25th, I forget, Rush will be here with Tool on the same weekend. I am looking into tickets for all those shows.

WELL????? WELL????? I played the gig last night and wished I was at the concert the whole time .
I got home really late (early this morning) and popped in the Dream Theater DVD just to torture myself.
Well, how was it? What guitars did Petrucci play?
Did Satch play the hard tail?
AHHHHHH!!!!! I wish I could have gone!!!!!

The show was great. King's X and DT played very well. Ty (guitarist for KX) played very well as always. He played his signature guitar through a POD. Petrucci did sport a double neck (12 string on top and six on bottom). He played great. I understand that he was ill. He and Jordon Rudess did an incredible duel on the last song. Always Mike P. was a great show. He is always fun to watch in concert.

Satch ROCKED. The sound was great. He played the 7 strings for two songs. He actually stated "Here is my nice new 7 string guitar" and held it up for everyone to see. He did play a Donnie for the encore. It was the one that is pictured in one of the recent guitar mags. It seems rather new. Matt B. did a good job on the bass.
