Dethklok in LA

So, is anybody else going to see Dethklok + Mastodon at the Hollywood Palladium on Friday Nov. 20?

Sadly yes. And Mastadon are opening for them. Thats right, a 10 year old respectable metal band is opening up for a band based on cartoon character that make comedy songs. The power of television and media.
Honestly, there has been a huge explosion of people who like death metal because of this cartoon series and it's kind of sad but also pretty cool at the same time.

There has been a huge explosion of people who like Death Metal due to Metalocalypse. The Dethalbum II actually hit #15 on the charts last month, which made it one of the highest ranking metal albums ever.

Though, the creator of the show/songwriter/voice actor/scriptwriter, Brendan Small, knows his music, he's a Berklee Music school Alumni.

Re: Dethklok in LA

Oh yeah... yeah.. you really need a Berklee degree to have every song based in Em, have a bunch of pinch harmonics, and have the gain up all the way.

I have to admit that is totally metal.

Yes, the power of 13/14/15 year olds is still strong and it's highly evident in this cartoon that caters to those ages.
It's pretty much like Hannah Montanna if you think about it. TV show about musician, then she gets huge enough to actually be a musician and it's all G D C stuff. Dethklok = Hanna Montanna.

Yeah it is kinda like Hannah Montana, except a death metal version. Also, I'm not so sure that the age group is 13/14/15 for Metalocalypse. I kind of expect it to be higher, I'll tell you about the average age group when I go to the concert.

I thought Mike Keenealy (however you spell his name) was playing with them in Deathklok. That adds a bit of respectability for sure.

Re: Dethklok in LA

This is an all star band, with really only Gene Hoglan playing up to his potential. Keneally and Vai's most recent bassist are in the band as well, but neither are used as they should be. Just a bunch of drop tuned metal riffs. Keneally has like, 2 solos throughout the whole set.

I love my girlfriend with all my heart.. but I missed out on the show for her. I was and still am officially pissed.

I gave the ticket away to a friend. Everyone said both headliners put on an amazing show.

That happened to me once. I was driving to dinner for an "anniversary" with my then girlfriend and at a stop light I looked up at the sign at a bar that was a block away from my apartment in Orlando. The sign said, "Tonight only, Yngwie Malmsteen." I looked at her, looked at the sign, looked at her, looked at the sign and said, "****" and went on to dinner. We broke up a month later and I still regret not going to that show that was in my back yard. Apparently it was a warm up show for his up coming tour. This was in 1999.
