Re: DREAM THEATER - LIVE IN Australia!!!!!!!

Personally, i can never quite appreciate Dream Theater or John Petrucci live. Their music is great and among my favorite flavors, however they are horrible live. I like a band with Energy, and these guys play a live gig like they are in their 90's! LOL I warmed up to them thanks to their records. I've seen them a few times, and both occaisions i fell asleep in the middle of their performance. I am not even kidding. In a huge arena filled with lots of people, not exactly all cheering, but a lot of noise, and i manage to catch some Z's. The first time i saw DT, i fell asleep on my girlfriend. Luckily, it was at Gigantour, and we woke up from Megadeth launching missiles into the crowd! From then on, it only got better. We rocked out with our ****s out, well not really but we rocked a lot.

Anyways, i wish you a good show. I certainly enjoy their music, just wish i had it in me to appreciate their live performances. I don't know, i always imagine that with their type of music and the band name "Dream Theater" they'd have a theatrical rock approach at live music, kind of like Iron Maiden or something epic anyways. Guess im just being fussy.

Rock it!

They don't move. Can you debate that? They are like statues. But put that aside, and they are easily one of the best bands out there. Highly recommended obviously.

I assume that is because they arn't just playing standard strumming rock. That kind of music that they have to play will be impossible jumping around the stage.

Are you there to watch acrobats or listen to live music being performed. Sometimes I wonder what peoples expectations are of live performances...

Re: DREAM THEATER - LIVE IN Australia!!!!!!!

I've seen Symphony X, who have a similar sound and they've got a much better stage presence and energy. I like watching a band play their music like they could with their eyes closed. Kinda like going to a Vai concert. He's got some heavy pieces with a lot of technical passes, but he will always be putting a lot of emotion and physical contrast to his playing. It's really part of entertainment. Don't get me wrong, John is a fantastic guitar player. He's just really lame to watch live. Trust me, it's not his music, it's him. Like when i saw him in G3, it's safe to say he is good, but not that much better or different that he couldn't give more pizazz to his performance. Gilbert was fantastic, and Satriani was rocking it like usual, and he's the one who's over 50....

I don't see what has to be debated here. I was just making a statement, however, given the chance, i would probably see Dream Theater again. IF it wasn't too expensive, and if i could be on some floor level seats, or else i'm basically inviting myself to sleep in them bleachers.

According to Ticketmaster Australia they are only selling reserve A and B seats, and they know nothing about the 50 meet and greet packages, Where do I buy them from ? I must get these but no one knows how to get them. it states on DT's website that there will be meet and greet and even links to ticketmaster, so what the f__k is going on ???
