Dream Theater U.S. '04 Tour

About 15 dates have been released. The dates are so far in March and April. Can't wait to see them again and hear the new material from Train of Thought.

Cleveland, March 20th

I'll be there! ...with bells on!

And I look rather good in bells...if I must say so myself!

Seattle show totally rocked, especially (however strange this may sound) the DRUM SOLO. Petrucci has the thickest most focused guitar tone I've ever heard live.

Saw the Los Angeles show on Saturday. For their second set, they played "When Dream and Day Unite" in its entirety. MP said it was 15 years to the day the album was released, so that was their celebration. For the encore, they brought out Charles Domenici to sing on "To Live Forever" and then Derek Sherinian showed up to play on "Metropolis Part 1". I've never heard any of the material off the 1st album, so that part was a bit lost on me, but I must say that hearing Charles and Derek during the last 2 songs was utterly amazing. It was nice to be a part of something unique. Not sure if it was a bad sound mix, but Jordan was WAY too low in the mix. JP also was having trouble cutting through. Not sure if this again was related to the sound mix or using different heads on this tour (Mesa Roadkings). As far as the actual performance, it was flawless. I can't get over how these guys can remember all the time signature changes and keep up with everyone else. Mathematicians should study this...

Just got back from the show in St. Louis. Words cannot describe this folks, it was fantastic. I've seen them 4 times now and this was the best of them all. The first set was a great mix of new and old stuff, they were all over the map...then they played "Change of Seasons" in its entirety. Second set was brutal, JP was on fire. This is a must see tour, seems like they are hitting the smaller venues on this one.

Next up, EJ acoustic at a local club next week here in town...I'm not sure what's going on but everybody that I dig is playing St. Louis this month.
