Amazing show. I have to say that Kings X needs to double or triple their set...they simply tore it up. It was also interesting to note Ty Tabor's rack full of line 6 gear. Two
pod pro's a delay modeler and a modulation modeler, all powered with a Mesa Simulclass 2:90. I've always thought the tone from the POD Pro was excellent, and it was great to hear it at ear splitting volumes (one's that I don't get to play at often enough).
DT was spot on as usual, although JP seemed a little fussy about his sound and kept fiddling with his rack. Often on the swells he was simply wayyy tooo loud coming in, and his delay was mixed differently almost everytime he used it. On Solitary Shell he used the
double neck monstrosity of a guitar....which sounds great. But then he took it off and switched to a regular six for the solo. Seems like they built in two extra or four extra measure to compensate for the time, but when he got the guitar ready...no sound. So the fiddling began and when they finally got it going he came in at the wrong spot and was ahead of the band by about a measure. He figured it out at the part with the octaves near the end of the solo, and basically did that twice to recover and land on his feet. LaBrie was totally on, didn't miss a thing and it looked like he was having a lot of fun.
Satch was Satch. He was loud as crap, very animated and had a lot of fun up there. The highlight of his section was Bissonette, he was great. But who the hell is that dumpy short dude playing rhythm guitar. He totally looked out of place. Maybe he shreds too, but he never got the chance. At times it looked like he didn't know the tune.
All in all an awesome show, but wish Kings X got to play more. THe venue totally sucked but that's another story.
