(edit: sorry mods, I put this in the wrong spot...

)
This was one of those lifetime events. This show was for only 200 people in a very small club. The show was not "advertised" per se, very little press or radio time at all. My wife just happened to see it up on the marquee of the club last week and voila.
I was seated right smack in front of him, literally about 5 feet away and the stage is only about 16 inches off the floor level. I could have easily smacked him with a ruler if he stopped playing for too long (luckily he moved through some awesome music).
I don't have Souvenirs (the album) so most of what he played was brand new to me, and he also played some stuff that he was still working on. He did two or three tunes on the piano, one of which was "The Wind Cries Mary" from Hendrix...interesting arrangement that worked surprisingly well on piano.
The show was extremely intimate to say the least, moody lighting and lots of candles and incense...not in an overdone way, but just right. He played his old Martin dreadnaught for about half the show, then switched to the Ramirez classical for few numbers, then to his new signature Martin for the bulk of the remainder, only doing the final encore on the dreadnaught.
To date, this was probably the most impactful musical event I've been involved in. Obviously I'm a big fan of his playing and music, but the sheer proximity and the type of show that it was just took it to that next level. Can't say enough about his acoustic playing and the compositions, utterly jaw dropping chord voicings and amazing playing on every single tune.
