Mattias IA Eklundh is probably the 2nd best guitarplayer in the world after SSV, no wonder SSV recruited him to Favored Nations.

Buy Freak Kitchen´s last effort "Move", U won´t be disappointed, neither will you be disappointed if U buy "Freak Guitar". If U haven´t heard "IA" you´ll look like this afterwards Left wondering WTF? Is it possible?

Thing is, my band used to rehearse next to IA´s old band "Frozen Eyes". We were always hoping that they were there to rehearse too, and if they were it was like X-mas eve.

Actually I was at the release gig and it kicked some serious butt I can tell you!!!

Take a look at this and prepare to be amazed

Good God! I love this stuff! There are quite a few starving FK fans here in the states that would love to have the oppertunity to see them live.
Where is that vid from? Thanks for posting the link!

I'm listening to "Apperatus" from Freak Guitar right now and twisting my fingers into all sorts of unnatural shapes trying to figure out what he's doing to hit those harmonics in the main melody. HELP!!!!!!!

Talk about digging up an old thread...
Eklundh uses a gardenhose ring on his right hand. It's simply a ring used to attach garden hoses to a faucet (?). The cylinder that houses the screw makes a nice mini slide. And the loop makes it a nice ring. He uses that in the solos in the song. Otherwise I don't know what you mean, because this is the only extraordinary thing in the song.

Aaaaaaah. Cos it sounds like a whammy pedal, but I know he doesn't use one. I thought he was whacking harmonics somehow then using the bar to play melodies. Thanks! I'll see if I can just use one of my rings!

He doesn't use a whammy pedal at all.

He does however have the best control over harmonics I have ever seen. He demos them in his young guitar demo.
Hopefully I can learn them from him this summer

Yeah, his harmonics are pretty sick. That's the thing that really jumps out at me about his playing. It's amazing!

Eklundh's harmonic trick is pretty simple actually . He just slaps them and dives with the bar a bit at the same time giving it a similar sound as a whammy pedal.

Regards

André

Eklundh's playing is pretty simple actually . He just frets notes with his left hand and picks with his right.
