Insanity (Zappa plays Zappa-related)

After our gig on Saturday, my guitar player and I were talking about Vai being in town on Halloween...he was under the impression that it was a solo Vai show, in addition to the Zappa-plays-Zappa show. He told me he was getting backstage and stuff because he'd become friends with Vai's nephew. If i wanted to go, let him know and he'd get me a ticket.

I'm not available on Halloween, nor am i that interested in Zappa, so i declined.

I sent him an email to make sure he knew that it wasn't a Vai show, but just a Zappa show and I got this in return...

I thought that his nephew...Roger...was [messing] with me. But it's real. I guess I'll have to wash my car now. Before hand gonna get a few drinks and things. If you got something you want signed, let me know. I'll try to get him to sign it while he is a passenger...
So my guitarist is driving Steve to his mother's house on Tuesday. Could I be any more (loch ness) green with envy? I don't think so. Going to try to send my UV over there before next week and have him sign it.

Could you imagine if all of a sudden Steve was sitting in your car?

Insanity!

I drove Andy Timmons to his hotel last time he was here in Chile. It was great, we talked about everything but guitar. Later that night, I had some kind of Wayne's World flashback.."I had AT in my car...I'm not worthy!!!" LOL

Question

Re: Insanity (Zappa plays Zappa-related)

How often do you have Steve Vai ride with you in the same car??? this is a one in a lifetime opportunity! Helloween is every year, think about it... If I were you I'd go.

He's got a registered forum name, so i'll let him tell you the whole story when he gets aroudn to it...

I don't think he ended up driving, but they did end up jamming backstage...and my buddy was actually playing THE Evo. ugh i'm jealous.

He said Steve's very cool and down to earth behind closed doors...has a slightly different persona when signing and meeting with 'the fans'.
