Enjoy the shows! They will always be one of my favorite bands. I'm listening to Piece of Mind right now.

That's the whole point of the show, it is called the "Somewhere Back in Time" tour for a reason.
Oh and there's been some great music off the last few albums since Dickinson and Smith came back to the fold.

Behind Crimson Eyes are supporting them in Sydney too. Not really the same sort of style as Maiden (They are more Metalcoer I think), but I really like them too. Should be an awesome gig from what I've seen on Youtube, etc.

Re: Iron Maiden in Australia!
150 Aus dollars? What does this translate to? Saw them in 1986 for about £10. There is no way I'd go see these guys again 22 years later, to say they lost their magic after Somewhere in Time or even Powerslave would be an understatement.

Re: Iron Maiden in Australia!
$150 is the most expensive option. I bought the $100 tickets.
$100 = 46 pounds
$150 = 69 pounds
Well considering your views on the Maiden cataloge this tour might be for you. They are only playing music from their earlier albums. I believe nothing after Fear of the Dark.
Set list has been something like this so far:
01. Intro - Churchill's Speech
02. Aces High
03. 2 Minutes to Midnight
04. Revelations
05. The Trooper
06. Wasted Years
07. The Number of the Beast
08. Run to the Hills
09. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
10. Powerslave
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Can I Play With Madness?
13. Fear of the Dark
14.
Iron Maiden
-----------------------------
15. Moonchild
16. The Clairvoyant
17. Hallowed Be Thy Name
Also bear in mind since Dickinson and Smith have come back they are definitely back on top again. Brave New World is one of their best I think, and A Matter of Life and Death (last album) has some great moments too.

Re: Iron Maiden in Australia!
OK, that's a good set list of classic material! But £69!!? Ouch!
I didn't take to the Brave New World album at all Stephen, I thought it was terrible, but I haven't heard the last album (apart from one single). Didn't like it!
I think it was after the Seventh Son album was released when I lost interest. But yeah, I'm glad about Smith rejoining, he was one of the reasons I liked 'em in the first place. They were cool at that point, experimenting with a new sound (Gallien Kruger amps!). When Yanick Gers joined it seemed to destroy the whole chemistry of the band, though, I was totally disappointed because the guy just didn't seem to fit in. I don't want to be awful to him but I wish he'd leave.

Again, that's the more expensive ticket. Sure it is pretty expensive, but you've got to remember that many people don't even get to Australia (and more so don't even play in Canberra where I am even though it's the capital of the damned country - that's why I'm travelling to Sydney), and tickets are always quite expensive when the big acts come here. Maiden haven't been since 1992 so it's a big thing, plus the show is supposed to be huge.
I agree with you with regard to Janick Gers, but hey the rest of the band like having him there. He offered to leave when Adrian came back, but they said no please stay on. He wont stop me from seeing the otherwise powerhouse lineup.
I reckon you should give Brave New World another go Dee, just see what you think now. I still love it after listening to it for some time, some real good songs on there.

Re: Iron Maiden in Australia!
There's no way it'll happen mate, I really can't stand that album! My taste in music has changed drastically since I was into them back in the 80's, and for the past 6 years or so I have listened mainly to instrumental fusion. For a couple of years I've also been heavily into Japanese fusion ("J-Fusion" is the correct name for it), and metal has been almost completely kept out of my CD player. Man, I am extremely picky about what I listen to. I literally like about 5 vocalists (I am a huuuuuge Stevie Wonder fan) and I can't listen to metal vocals at all.
I was crazy about Maiden from 1984 to 1986, but that's all. I was just a young kid going from punk into metal. Believe me, I have tried to like the stuff they did after Somewhere in Time, but there hasn't been a single song I've liked since then. I own the first 6 albums and I occasionally play them (except the first two with Paul D on vocals). I actually threw the Brave New World album away in the bin I hated it so much! LOL. So yeah, I can't give it another chance anyways. I listened to it 3 times and it was always kinda unbearable.

Fair enough mate, that's cool.
Well it's tonight, and I'm sure it will be an awesome show. Heading off to Sydney with the old man in a few hours. Picked up the self titled, Piece of Mind, and Somewhere in Time last night for the road trip.

It's tonight? Cool man, I hope you have a great time. Piece of Mind was the first one I bought, btw. Loved that album at the time and learned all the basslines and guitar riffs note for note. Used to sit there all day with the damn thing on repeat! Good times.
