J.S. and Eric Johnson last night in Orlando
OMG !!! This is my fourth time seeing J.S., but this time I got to tour the stage pre-show, get a FRONT ROW spot at House of Blues and meet Joe afterward (and get photos with him). Forget about his musical abilities for a moment; we all know about that. He has got to be one of the genuinely nicest people I've ever met. Not only did he do photos and autographs with us individually (a group of about 20), he spent 3-4 minutes with each one of us privately having a personal conversation. And I don't mean pretending to listen and nodding his head. He and I were talking about our children. One of the last things he said to me was "You are truly blessed to have TWO children" (He has only one . . . so there was clearly a private message there). I said, "Yes, I really am."
Anyway, last night was my first time seeing
Eric Johnson
live. Absofrigginlutely amazing !!! However, although he certainly looks good compared to most 51 yr-olds, he doesn't look well. He looked very very tired in the eyes. I hope it's that simple and that we don't get bad news about him soon. The only album of Eric's that I've ever owned is Ah Via Musicom. But today, I went onto Amazon.com and dropped $160 ordering everything else he has done that is available (DVD & CD). Thank you, Joe, for bringing out Eric !!!

Cool. Sounds like you had one hell of blast, I too, saw Satch (for the first time FINALLY!) and EJ (2nd time, 1st time was way better) last Friday, April 14th at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston, great show!
Nice review.

Re: J.S. and Eric Johnson last night in Orlando
Yeah I was at the orlando show too. Great gig. First time seeing Eric Johnson live. He was great. Satch had a good set. During the last encore they brought out
Steve Morse
and Eric Johnson for a mini G3. They jammed on "going down" and "red house". Steve apparently lives near by and I was not surprised he was there since he showed up at the last G3 in Orlando. The three of them seemed to have a lot of fun. Steve kept smiling and laughing when Eric would do some scalar runs clear up and down the neck. It was to cool.
My friend is a Bouncer at the House of Blues so he snuck us in early and snagged a Satriani guitar pick for me. What a swell guy.
It was a great show. Satch played one white js-1000, the super colossus guitar, one JS-1200, a black js-1000 and a chrome guitar.
Check them out if you can go.
Cheers,
-Andrew

Yep, Joe was certainly in my top 4 favorite players, but after meeting him, I just have a new appreciation for him.

You're lucky. I would love to meet both Joe and Eric, I've thought about staying after the show ended, to maybe try and meet them but then I decided to get out of Boston as soon as possible to head back up to Maine, kind of a long drive, I should've pursued meeting them somehow though...oh well, the next show maybe...

Re: J.S. and Eric Johnson last night in Orlando
I saw that show in Baltimore (4/17/06). Truly awesome. First time seeing EJ and those guys were on top of thier game. Of course, Joe was great as usual.
I walked away with a new appreciation for both EJ and the new satch CD.
A must see.
ric232, glad you and everyone else had fun too.
I'm definately getting the platinum tickets next time.
