Just got back from Joe Satriani Melbourne Australia

Wow

seen vai many times in my life, but never got the chance to see Joe Live.

Tonight was the first time, and it was an awesome show.

Im a little pissed (drunk) right now, so Il keep it brief.

the man is a machine, he just played and played non stop.....

Great show, and he is playing again in the same venue for half the price, to fans who went tonight. For sat night

So I may see him twice...

He played the New Blacky guitar, but no Surfing with the alien guitar...

It was basically Joe masturbating for 2 hours on stage.... fun non the less...

Had a great time.....

I have seen him live a half dozen times and always came away inspired to play just wishing I had my guitar in the car.

Re: Just got back from Joe Satriani Melbourne Australia

I went to the first gig as well, on the 11th. I left towards the end of "Surfing With The Alien" cos it was the missus's birthday on the 12th, and I wanted to be home by midnight to wish her a happy birthday - what can I say, I'm a sentimental dude.

This was the third time I've seen Joe, and it was my favourite of the 3 times. I still prefer Vai live because the ass sometimes falls out of Joe's arrangements in a live context, but I'd definitely see him again and I hope Stu sticks around for a while. He brought a great energy to the gig.

I seen Satch a couple weeks ago in Edmonton! Great gig, had a lot of fun. He looked like he was having fun up there as well!

I saw him nearly twenty years ago on the Not of This Earth tour; still one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I'm going to see him again later this week. Should be a great show; Satch is really in his element playing live, and you can tell he has a great time performing...that's the real key to a great show.

Re: Just got back from Joe Satriani Melbourne Australia

Sorry guys to disagree but when I saw him in March ion Glasgow it was all pretty dull. Even Stu Hamm plays the same predictable bass solo. It seams that a lot of new Satch stuff is turning into lift music. I didn't get any 'wow' factor or 'how the hell did he do that' unlike the likes of Vai and Gilbert. Gilbert supported him that night and I thought (Even though I'm biased) he blew Satch away.

To be honest I don't like Satch music. I went to see Vai.... and he was beyond awesome. Satriani and Petrucci bored me.

I just wish Vai would hurry up and tour here on his own so I can see a lengthy set.

It's funny, I couldn't be more oposite. I had Vai's complete discography on my iTunes, and I deleted it because it took up a lot of hard drive space for something I never listened to. And on all the G3 DVD's I skip Vai and watch the others. He just make's me think he's being wierd for wierdness sake. I do like FTLOG and a few others but, that's how I feel. I think all of Satch's stuff is amazing even the new stuff. I do have to be honest and say a few tracks on Super Colosal were weak.

But, hey I'm glad we can all hear something we like.

True That.... The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing. I don't mind Satriani its just that I find his melody and phrasing very predictable. But to each his/her own.
