Yeah, but it's a bit far away from Amsterdam. I think i'll pass this time.

Yngwie is great live though!

I just might have to make that trip. I've been working in Naperville so gas is killing me, but maybe if I ask Mrs Cid real nice she'll let me go. We saw him at Joe's on Weed St a few years back. That was a great show. Yngwie in a bar.

The guy puts on the best shows. Been to 2, first one (WTEAW tour) I was literally 5 feet from him.

Dont get me wrong I love the guy, an absolute magician on the guitar, but ive seen him twice and its basically him and the band, and he spends most of the time soloing (masturbating) on stage.

Maybe his shows have gotten better, but I saw many people walk out of the show at around the 2.5 hour mark. To long and to many notes...

Yeah, Yngwie does give " bang for your buck ".

I saw him during the 7th Sign & Magnum Opus tours. Just incredible and still one of the best live shows i ever saw. If you don't like Yngwie, don't go to his show.

I walked out on Satriani's live show at Paradiso in Netherlands this year. I saw Satriani two years ago and it was great. This time not so. I guess we are all human and have our ups and downs.

Why did you walk out on a Satriani show? Was the sound bad?

Joe Satriani just hadn't his day. It was one of the last days, if not the last day of months of touring and it showed of big time. He's only human. No problem and better luck next time.

Actually, I'll be able to see Yngwie in Nashville at the same place I saw him three years ago. Should be an entertaining show.

Re: Malmsteen at the Chicago HOB 10/19/08

I just saw him at the Cleveland Agora on 10/18/08. Talk about a
crappy venue to see a legend, but that's another story.
I thought he played his butt off and was a little over the top
with the showmanship at times. He probably threw out 50 picks
by the end of the night to the same 10 people. I really disliked
Ripper Owens (Ohio native) and thought that his voice really didn't
fit Yngwie's style or older songs. Ripper to me was only good at
screaming and hitting high notes that JSS did so well. IMO, he
has a very weak and dry voice when it comes to actually singing.
The opening act was an extremely strange Russian band. Their
lead singer was barely understandable even when he spoke, and
their music was rather lame, imo. I will say that their guitar player
was very talented, but overall they barely heard a peep from the
audience. The best was to sum up their audience experience was the sound
of crickets for an hour. I've loved Malmsteen since he first arrived
on the scene back in the early 80's, but I would save yourself some
money and avoid the show altogether and see them perform on youtube
instead. After the same arpeggio's and trills are done during every
song, you'll feel a little short-changed by the end of the night.
