Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

I got tickets for the St. Petersburg, FL show next Friday. Should be a good show, it's a cool venue.

Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

from what i was told the promoter didn't want to do the same venue areas that gen-x did recently (thus no NYC or Philly). The NJ show was excellent Steve, Phil, Jeremy & Dave tore it up. The venues are intimate and conducive to a good show. The older audience sat the entire time making it all the better viewing.

Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

So you sat the whole show?

The venue was 20 miles from NYC, he could have done Glenside 20 miles from Philly also ;/

Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

reserved seats didn't have to stand until the final bow. but in fairness to the almost-Medicare-age crowd the show ran over 2.5 hours with a 15 min intermission.

Looking forward to seeing him the 26th in Ft Lauderdale. Hopefully the Evo Xperience is fun. The venue is definitely cool, Parker Playhouse.

Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

I expect you will really enjoy Evo. For me personally the less i know about a "performer" the more i enjoy but then again i grew up staring at LP covers/artwork. We were chatting with Dave backstage while the experience went on but Steve had a few dozen fans he was holding court with then signed tons of stuff. Then you get to watch soundcheck which is always entertaining. You'll hear how overly-bright Steve has his tone nowadays (brutally harsh to be kind). Lemme know what you think of his use of Sustaniac.. it's on every touring axe except EVO now and has really altered his playing since his Performance/Charvel days.

Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

I saw the tour in Knoxville on Sunday. Great show. The EVO Experience was great. The sound check was awesome. I agree his tone has changed some. I am not sure if the guitar he plays Gravity Storm with has a sustainer. I don't think Steve played a 7 string at all at the show I was at.

Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

Dang, you folks weren't kidding about his live tone now. Sharp enough to cut aged cheddar. I will say that Dave's PS7 sounds absolutely massive, so maybe that's what it takes to sit on top of the mix. This tour is MUST-SEE if you are a Steve fan from way back. The guest-stars jamming on screen are a fantastic touch.

Steve was gracious enough to name VIC for me. Thank you Steve, that means a lot to me.

I did get a "wow, jeez, thanks for buying all those", when I showed him the swirls on the rug picture.

Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

I bought one of those little lighted JEMS you see sitting on top of Vai's amp in the picture in the post above. I saw them when I first walked into the venue, and thought how cool would it be to have one. Then while waiting in line to get a beer, I noticed them at the merchandise stand. It looks awesome sitting on top of my lighted Hughes & Kettner TM18.

I take it you weren't too interesting in taking the trip to Harrisburg. My lady made it an early Christmas present. It did require us to stay the night, but it was so worth it. I was disappointed that he wasn't coming to Glenside like in 2012 when I saw him. Bad Horsie sounds amazingly heavy live.

Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

If I didn't feel like driving 70 miles to NNJ then 115 to Harrisburg was not a better option.

Re: Passion and Warfare Tour

Wow... Steve named your guitar. That's pretty cool. Not sure on the actual name he picked though.

I asked Billy Sheehan to name my bass. It is a gorgeous and awesome-sounding Yamaha BEX-BS semi-hollow Billy signature series.

He looked at me, sort of quizzically and said "You want me to NAME your bass?" Then said "How aboooouuuuuuut...... SPOT!"

I said ".............Spot................OK." I think I was nodding the whole time with my teeth clenched.

So, yeah. Now I have a bass named Spot.
