Re: Rodrigo Y Gabriella
I remember that ^^
You sent me a couple of tracks, Ryan. I thought they were quite good, but I only heard 2 songs or something, one of which was an acoustic version of "One" by Metallica.

Re: Rodrigo Y Gabriella
Aye that's it.
I enjoyed their version of 'take 5' and a few other covers. Their own material is pretty grim

Re: Rodrigo Y Gabriella
Haven't done anything for a while. I think the last thing you heard was the "Underwater" track. Since then, all I did with that one is replace the bass track, but then I got bored and abandoned it. I'll post any new tracks up, but to be honest I'm not feeling too inspired these days. I'm hoping a 7-string will bring back the spark.
Yeah, sorry Elcid. I should be PMing this.

Re: Rodrigo Y Gabriella
As far as cid's question goes, R y G are my new guitar heroes. Saw them at Bumbershoot in Seattle Labor Day weekend and they are amazing! Gabriela plays percussion at the same time as she plays notes on the strings. Her right hand is a blur as it strikes the upper bout, hits some notes on the way down, then strikes the lower bout and comes up to do the same thing in reverse. It sounds like there's a conga drummer on stage.
Oh and by the way Olie, they probably wouldn't label it flamenco or huapango. I think of it as a mix of
heavy metal
and Latin rythym, and they called it "weird sh!t."

Re: Rodrigo Y Gabriella
Cid did you see them play? I got the album for Christmas. Pretty cool but I can see it getting boring to watch. Many songs are similar and have the same beat.

Re: Rodrigo Y Gabriella
No, they cancelled the show. Gabriella was suffering from exhaustion.

Re: Rodrigo Y Gabriella
Well, 6 months later and we finally get to see them on a free stage at Summerfest. It wasnt a bad show. Gabriella is the talent of the band. Rodgrigo wasnt bad, but all he really did was play metal licks over her Flamenco stuff. Plus he way over used his wah (on a classical guitar). She took an unaccmpanied solo and it was cool, then he did one , started with the intro to Voodoo Chile, then some Yngwie licks, Master of Puppets intro, more single string licks, he found his
Whammy Pedal
played another single string lick, then played the intro to Seven Nation Army, more trem picking then Stairway to Heaven. He wasn't a bad guitarist, but the 4 Guitar Center riffs in one solo was pretty cheesy, and he didnt strike me as that original except for he was playing a nylon string guitar. They covered Stairway, Orion and Wish You Were Here.
On the plus side Mrs Cid is totally cool with me crushing on Gabriella. She may not be the hottest chick in music but she's still good looking, she plays guitar awesome, is Latina and loves to say "f*ck".
