Vai Autograph at G3

I will hope fully going to a g3 show if and when they come to the UK next, just wondered how easy it would be to take my jem to be signed by vai and satriani, do they sign much stuff and is my pride and joy likely to get trashed by some screaming fan trying to get an auto graph!! any coments or other ideas on how i can get my jem signed by vai here in england (promo's, jemfest ect.) would be greatly appreciated.

I think that it whould be really hard to take the guitar to the concert. So you can leave it in a car or a safe place inside the concert hall and hope to see them after the concert. I did that in a malmsteen concert but yngwie was so tired that he did not see me standing there. I only got a photo with mark boals and barry dunaway.

Leave the guitar at home and bring the pickguard or trem cover plate to be signed. It's pretty easy to get them to sign stuff, just have to hang around the back stage door or the tour bus for an hour or so after the show.

Last time Steve played in Melbourne, some guy brought his Jem into the club with a sign saying "Steve, sign my guitar." Eventually Steve caved (after this guy obstructed the view of many a punter by waving his guitar around above his head for half the gig) and was going to play it for a song except it was tuned to Eb. Steve signed the back of the headstock, "To (whatever the guy's name was), **** you, Steve Vai."

sounds like the dude deserved it, for obstructing people's view for half the show.

People pay for concerts, they don't need a raving lunatic obstructing the view

I've heard that they have a "guitar check in" of sorts at these shows, where lots of fans will bring their guitars to get signed, and you can check them in at the door, and retrieve them after the show for a signing session.
Or, just show up to the venue early (probably like, 5 hours before show time), and stand out near the busses.
