Zappa Plays Zappa

Hey guys, I am going to try and go to the Zappa Plays Zappa in Pompano Beach, Fl. I was first wondering if Napolean Murphy Brock, Bozzio and Vai still play in the tour or not. I'd love to have them there but if not it will still be a rocking concert

Nope, the special guest on this tour is Ray White.

Re: Zappa Plays Zappa

thats kinda lame, I'm feeling no Black Page then. But I still want to go since I still like Dweezil and Zappa's songs rock, some say it is better without the 3 special guests because they took attention away

Re: Zappa Plays Zappa

Vai did the Australian tour in December last year, and while I'm a huge Vai fan, I would have been perfectly happy if he wasn't there cos for me it was all about Frank.

Here's a recent setlist:

Rock You Like a Hurricane intro - Purple Lagoon
Imaginary Diseases
City of Tiny Lights
I'm a Beautiful Guy
Beauty Knows No Pain
Flakes
Broken Hearts Are For *******s
Bamboozled By Love
King Kong
Yellow Snow
St. Alphonzo's
Father O'Blivion
Magic Fingers
Carolina Hardcore Ecstacy
Lucille Messed My Mind Up
Joe's Garage
Wet T-Shirt Nite
Outside Now
He Used to Cut the Grass
Packard Goose
Cosmik Debris
G Spot Tornado
Willie the Pimp

Re: Zappa Plays Zappa

Sadly, I couldn't go to the recent show due to timing and funds. I wanted to see Ray White. I'm hoping if they do it again they bring Ray AND Ike Willis!
The first tour was incredible! I never thought I'd see Vai playing Zappa. And Terry Bozzio to boot! I really couldn't believe at the time that I was really seeing that lineup play ZAPPA!!! Still, it would have been great even without Vai. The rest of the band is amazing in their own right.
It would also be nice to see other Zappa noteables on the tour, like Mike Kenneally, Warren Cucurrullo, Scott Thunes, or (dare I hope) Vinnie Collaiuta! THAT would completely own!

Re: Zappa Plays Zappa

Yeah I went to the tour where Vai and Bozzio were special guests. I was able to go to the soundcheck and meet Vai. I also got a pick. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had at a show.

Re: Zappa Plays Zappa

Saw the show just yesterday in Archa Theater in Prague and it was totally awesome! He played here with Steve Vai last year, but it was a huge O2 Arena so it was really different.

I'll be at the PN '09 show in Atlanta 7/28/09 to see them. Got the M&G package for DT, but looking forward to seeing Dweezil as well.

Re: Zappa Plays Zappa

I saw ZPZ three days ago. Brilliant show.
Also, Dweezil said from the stage that there was a couple of 17yo who were desperate to get in(it was an 18 and above show), and he hoped that they managed to work it out.
