I just got the new Tool album and it blew me off! Great musicianship, great lyrics, great....everything! What do you guys think? Are you as excited as I am?

The band is extremely talented. The new album does not dissapoint me.

at first i was really unimpressed with it... i was quite peaved, well ive given it a few listens since then and it grows on me each time, i think its more subtle than previous efforts, but like i said its growing on me... it takes me a while to get into tool albums, with the exception of Ænima, so by the summer when i see them ill have fallen in love with it

LOL! That's exactly the opposite of what happened to me! At first I didn't like Aenima, but I kept listening to it, without really knowing why! After four months I was in love with it!

Love the album in its entirety. I'm especially stoked to have gotten a couple o' tickets to see them in a VERY small venue (3000 or so) next Wednesday. The show sold out in about 20 seconds - guess I had luck on my side for a change!

You're really lucky! I'm considering migration, in order to see them perform (as well as other bands!). Promoters don't seem to be interested to have them play in Greece!

The 5th track, "The Pot", is pretty frikin' awesome. GREAT groove, great lyrics, etc. The whole album is as close to being "perfect" as is could be. Incredible dynamics, a LOT of depth, many layers...definitely classic Tool.

I love every note of the album. Vicarious though holds a special place in my heart. Probably it's the lyrics (really straighforward, almost creepy. Maynard's vocal lines always blow me away!), the orchestration of the intro. I think I can hear some Meshuggah elements, but they've been Tool-ed (IMO).

I just picked up the new Tool album too, and I tried to like it, but...I really don't..Its just not the same old Tool and Maynard sounds totally different too me, I dunno, mabie he burnt out or something but his voice is so weird on this album.

Its heavier though, i'll give it that..

Give the album some time. I couldnt keep count of how many people ive heard not like tool albums untill they have a good few listens and ive already got at least 5 people i know who didnt like this album untill spinning it at least 10 times.....

I agree maynard doesnt sound like Tool maynard. He seems to be useing a similar voice to the voice he uses in alot of A Perfect Circle stuff.......all good imo.

A side note. Right in two is just awsome.
