2004 Grammy Awards
Anyone see it? I watched from start to finish and here's my comments:
-Prince owned that show
-T'was the night of successful, yet completely unexpected collaborations
-Beatles tribute: sweeeeet
-Foo Fighters + Chick Corea = amazing (though piano could've stood out a bit more in my opinion)
-Celine Dion has won my respect for singing perfectly in tune in a large hall with no monitors
-Outkast impressed me greatly
-I've never seen more funk in my life
-Christina
almost
pulled a Janet Jackson stunt, but didn't...too bad I guess
-P. Diddy's comments on Janet's Superbowl stunt was the greatest I've heard yet: "If I had known when I was practising and everything that Janet was going to upstage me, I'd have whipped something out that you'd still be talking about today"
-Did anyone
not
get a lifetime achievement award?

pretty good show tonight.
Highlights for me: prince, chick corea, celine dion, justin timberlake, the funky part, which was rather funkadelic.

It was a good one Prince together with Earth Wind & Fire/P-funk definately made the night for me...
The Foo-fighters/Chick Corea thing was strange but worked surprisingly well, better than Sting and Sean Paul...Sarah McLaghlan and Beatles Tribute were both good as well...Beyonce did a good job
I couldn't care much for most of the winners though...I hoped for The Roots and Dido to win in their respective categories, but was pretty happy with Coldplay taking the best song award...
P. Diddys comments were great, I totally agree...Justin's apology was pretty good too, I loved the fact that he couldn't keep a straight face and realises how ridiculous the whole "scandal" is...

I didn't like the Sean Paul-Sting thing, and the Chick Corea/Foo Fighters collaboration sucked IMHO. What's the deal with Beyonce? just another screaming girl who gets a lot of attention. Now, that Alicia Keys has some talent!
You know what? I may be getting the Justin album. I've heard the singles and it's killer pop! Pretty much like Michael Jackson when he was still black.
Did you see Buckethead with Bootsie Collins on the red carpet? I sooo wanted him to appear in the funk thing!

Yea, I must say I'm becoming a Justin fan too. If you can find a copy of his Saturday Night Live appearance, see it. He did "Cry Me A River" and I barely recognized it, it was good

What I don't get is all of the non-musician presenters. Why is Matthew Perry giving out a Grammy? Would they get Dave Grohl to give out an Emmy?

Who cares. Same crap different name every year. It's just the music industry patting itself on the back. Why most people don't realize that it's all BS, and doesn't have a shred of meaningfulness, I don't know, but i guess most people are dumb enough to be wowed by all the bright lights or something.
