Another Classic Revisited: Rime Of The Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden
Well another classic I havent heard in so long, so dug thru the trusty box o' tapes and found this little gem again.
Such an epic tune and in my eyes one of there best tunes ever. Just classic Maiden, that bassline chuggin along like it always did, makes the music seem as if its always moving forward.
Classic band and part of metal history.. And who doesnt love Eddie?
do yourself a favor if you never heard this tune, do it now..

Maiden is great pure and simple, same goes for Ed. Their latest album "Dance of Death" that cover was a pure disaster poor Ed
.

Re: Another Classic Revisited: Rime Of The Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden
You gotta love it!!!!
I do the same thing after ive had a couple of beers too many... lol
I dig out all the old vinyl and cassette tapes... only to find I cant play them anymore
I still have the original
Iron Maiden
Vinyl LP with Paul (the dustman) Di'anno on vocals and a picture of them live on stage at the RusKin Arms in Est Ham (East London) - a place where I may have drank a few pints of Newcastle Brown Ale
It has such an awesome track list!!! may faves of course
Strange World
Phantom Of the Opera
Charlotte the Harlot
and even better, at the bottom of the back caover it says "Hammers Rule OK"
(thats West Ham FC to you lot)
Luvvin it!!!
Unfortynately I dont have an old fashioned record player at the moment

Jeez,now you guys are talkin'
Maiden thru' the first seven albums were AMAZING.Yeah, rime's a killer song.Luv it
.The first album too was fantastic.Couple of my very favourites are gangland (number of the beast) and back in the village (powerslave). Back in the village has one of THE greatest intro's in the history of guitar IMO.It seriously ROCKS!
Never been in the ruskin arms, but i work in and around east ham and drive past sometimes,i assume its THE same place?Dont seem possible that world domination started there

Dude, Ive not been there for years but im told its still going strong.
Fridays they normally have a band, although I never saw anyone there the calibre of Maiden !
Saturdays they have a DJ and all the headbangers try their best to give themselves brain damage !
But yes, world domination for Iron Maiden started in the Ruskin Arms on East Ham high street !!!!
Quo played there a little while ago too.
I cant believe IT!!!!!!!! Ibanezcollector - look what you made me do !!
I just dug through my album collection and found ......
THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST PICTURE DISC LP !!!! -

I've got several Maiden picture discs as well. Years ago, one of my old mates decided he wasn't into Maiden anymore (turned into a Goth), and gave me his entire Maiden picture disc collection
Btw, ROTAM is one of my favourites, along with most of their first 7 or 8 albums.

Re: Another Classic Revisited: Rime Of The Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden
Definately one of the best metal bands of all time. Wish they didn't have to go out like they did with thier most recent crappy albums. Eddy lost his appeal and the rest is history. At least we have the old classics. ROTAM being one of them.

Re: Another Classic Revisited: Rime Of The Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden
Too many bands have crapped out with poor albums these days IMO.Very disappointing. At least we can always rock out to the old classics.Sanctuary off the first album is another fave.Simple song but kicks a**e

Re: Another Classic Revisited: Rime Of The Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden
Funny how ya forget songs, then see a title and think "YEESSSSSSSSS"!!
This thread made me get the Maiden cd's out again and i'd forgot To Tame A Land
WHAT A SONG.
I love phantom of the opera too but it always makes me want a glass of lucozade!

Re: Another Classic Revisited: Rime Of The Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden
big longtime Maiden fan here. I'm one of the few who actually loves some of hte newer stuff. No Prayer for the Dying was an all-time favorite. "Fates Warning", "No Prayer for the Dying" and "Mother Russia" were amazing. I also loved Fear of the Dark, especially "Afraid to Shoot Strangers", "Childhood's End", and "Judas Be My Guide"
