I hope this breaks the trend of celebrity fronted bands...I say he's got guts! I'll have to take a listen. Good find!

They did a little mini-interview thing with him in an issue of Total Guitar a while back. Apparently he can really play, so not only is a film star he can play guitar too! Some people get all te luck eh.

Lets get to the truth...
His
guitar playing
couldn't possibly be any worse than his acting skills.
It seems that whether Seagal is playing a New York cop, or a tough vigilante out on an Indian reservation......he still acts like a husky voiced, overweight, mob boss, that sounds like he's reading his lines off the nearest billboard.
I had a guy tell me one time that "Seagal doesn't take his cloths off like Van Damme or Stallone because everyone already knows he's a bad ass".
Seagal wears 8 piece mafia suits, and long suede dusters to cover up his beer gut!

Yes, and you are at home sitting behind your computer bitching about it.
Which one has got the better deal..
Ever tried to do acting btw?

I've SEEN Steven Segal play. I'll be kind and simply say that he was less-than-impressive. FAR less than impressive.
He was the M.C. at the Fender 50th Anniversary event at NAMM several years back. I ended up with a couple of VIP passes to the dinner/concert/meet-and-greet reception thingy. The concert itself was kind of cool. The Ventures played, as did
Richie Sambora
and Bonnie Raitt along with a handful of others. Segal did his psuedo-mystical mumbo jumbo thing and came across as being completely out of his mind. The WORST M.C. imaginable. The guy may be a badass, but he makes Marlon Brando seem like a great public speaker. All mumbles and nothing even remotely intelligent came from his mouth. The only thing worse than his half-witty banter was his half-baked attempt at playing some cheesy blues. Even with a top-notch all-star backing band he sounded like some kid who'd been given a guitar for his birthday only a month or so before. Pretty painful, but it gave just about everybody in the audience a chance to take a leak or get a beer.
Getting a hug by Bonnie Raitt and getting to meet Bill Schultz salvaged the evening, but just barely. Just goes to show...it's NOT what you know, it's who you know.
Anybody can make a CD (William Shatner anyone?)

Calm down broomstick cowboy.
Anyone can get a cd deal......ie: William Hung, Nickelback....Korn
There is no one bossed around more than musician's.
You do understand that right???
Unless your Clapton or Elton you have no power whatsoever.
Whether its at a photoshoot, or a gig..... players like Vai to Justin Timberlake are told what they will be doing, and how it will be done.
3 years ago, I watched a stage manager reem
Ted Nugent
a new ass about 10 ft from me.....and the powerless Nugent kept apologizing.
I honest to god wouldn't want to be a famous musician.
You think your one boss sucks??? Try 15 different ones per venue.
As far as acting, I actually have tried acting.
Certainly harder than it looks......
but for Steven Seagal it is hard....and everyone that sits through one of his predictable movies of the out of shape, middle age guy whipping 20-50 asses per scene knows it.

dont know man, from what im listening in that cd he's got good blues playing going on. i can hear he's playing with his fingers , and he's got good "feel" to it. there are some nice acoustic stuff there also.
Iv'e seen much worse guitarists then him make a living out of
playing guitar
, giging all over while they do sounds like a boy holding his first samick
i say steven got guts putting out a cd, sure, anyone can make a cd, and good for him for putting out. i get the feeling some of you ditch him because you hate his acting skills, while you didnt even listen to the cd.
im trying to discuss this cd above the level of "he got a beer belly" and "he's a bad actor".
i dont know how he plays live, but his playing sounds good to me on the cd.
I doubt he released a cd to be top chart seller. he just got 4 mill $ on his new movie, into the sun or somthing like this.

Oh...don't get me wrong.
I'll probably buy and like the cd.
Blues playing?? I'm there!
As I prefer that to making dumb faces and humping a wammy bar.
Beer guts work great for guitar playin.....oh yes, go to any guitar show.....
on average....its the most out of shape, beer chuggin, chain smoking, weed inhaling group you'll ever assemble.
You can literally smell greasy unshowered armpits when you walk in.
And I've been to all the shows......Maine to Texas.
NOT THE RULE.....BUT ON AVERAGE.
Seagul's movies are entertaining....no doubt about it!
He just can't act very well.
If he's your dad....please, no hard feelings.
If not, then just agree he's no Pacino or Deniro.
Thats all.

I haven't liked a Segal movie since "Hard To Kill", but then this thread isn't about his acting abilities, is it?
As I said, I've seen & heard the guy play. What sounds good on a CD is hardly an indication of skill or talent (especially when you've got millions to make it sound however you want it to sound.)
I'll chalk this one up to another wannabe novelty item by somebody who finally has enough money to fulfill a childhood dream. Kudos to Mr. Segal for buying the opportunity to put out a CD. It certainly won't be taking up space next to my
Robert Johnson
boxed set anytime soon. LOL
