Anyone got SRV's Montreux DVD?

Hello there,
I was at my local music shop last week, and i couldn't resist the temptation of buying this. As some of you would know, these concerts had been released on audio cd before. These are taken from the Montreux Jazz Festivals of '82 and '83.

To speak of the contents, there are two dvds containing the concerts from '82 and '83. there are some extra stuff (interview etc.) too. The '82 concert was as usual... mindblowing! But you can't believe the response of the audience. They were rude. In the end, Stevie left the stage heartbroken and disappointed. But that night proved to be the most important night for SRV, because Jackson Browne and David Bowie was attending the show and Jackson Browne offered his studio to SRV. Then came Texas Flood etc However, in '85 he played just as good and this time the response was just great

Anyway i recommend this 2-disc DVD set to any SRV fan!

Have Fun!!!

I bought this one a couple of months ago. I somehow missed this thread before.

I think it's a great Dvd and I couldn't believe the people on the first night. I reckon if that hapepened to me I would just leave the place ashamed but Stevie stayed on and finished his set.

I love that guy!

I never understood why the audience responded so badly!

I believe Stevie came out to play his set in the middle of what was a quiet Jazz night (until then) and most of the listeners didn't apperciate it. As a Jazz enthusiast I would agree with them but as a guitar player I think very few things could match the experience of seeing SRV play live. He's so damn inspirational....

in the booklet someone says that (don't remember who) the audience didn't expect to hear something like that so they booed him like they did.

Anyway I love that guy, as stated before he's just so inspirational... Rest in Peace Stevie...

I really enjoyed this dvd, in fact it got me on a blues kick for a few months. Overall, i think i actually prefer the first show, as the band was playing like they had something to prove, and like their lives depended on it.
The second show is amazing too, but i think i definitely prefer the sound of the trio, as opposed to having the keyboard player in the band.
peace
