ASCAP, BMI...your thoughts

First off, sorry moderators, had no idea where to place this...
Do any of you belong to any of these? I'm thinking of joining ASCAP (new cd release, radio's playing it) but wanted to get your thoughts first. Is BMI better, are either worth it at all? Any hidden costs or anything? Thanks!

One thing to consider is that ASCAP's board of directors are songwriters, BMI's are mainly broadcasters and people who should be registered to pay you. If that makes sense, basically waht I'm saying is that ASCAP's head honchos are people who were in your position once. Thats what I was told by an ASCAP V.P. so correct me if I'm wrong.

I suggest going to their websites and check them out before
deciding. Both are great and offer some discounts in certain
areas if are interested. I'm on BMI and there are no hidden cost,
If your paying for play, then you are probably joining
the wrong part of the company. Also check into SEASAC(or sumthin'
like that)
